Red Ribbon Week…is here! This is the week that people and communities unite and take a visible stand against substance abuse. Show your personal commitment to a drug-free and healthy lifestyle (preschool will focus on healthy eating/exercising) through the symbol of the Red Ribbon and these fun dress days (see Sycamore for additional details for dress up days):

House, spaceships, anything you can imagine, build it with magnatiles...
Tricky Mouse is back! Today he brought with him numbers 1 - 12! He hid below many numbers, but he didn't fool us. We figured out where he was every time by identifying the different numbers between 1 and 12! Identifying/recognizing numbers is an early math skill! After we identified the number and checked for tricky mouse, we identified the shape and the color too!
It was a full house at chapel today, with both 3rd grade classes leading for us! Some great reminders of how to be a good friend and show God's love...
Thank you Zion family for sharing Jesus’ love and remembering Drew Albritton as we celebrated his life in heaven. Through your generosity, we collected 495 toys that will be given to children battling cancer through the organization “Friends of Kids with Cancer”.
Today we introduced the letters "L" and "F"!
We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down, little line across for the "L" and big line down, little line across, little line across for the "F"! Then we came up with words that start with "L" and "F"!
Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "L" or "F" we can add it to our big letter. Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with an "L" or "F", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!
Yay for large motor time outside on this warm fall morning!
To begin small groups (centers), I read to the class, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". We decided it wasn't the best choice to eat so much unhealthy food in one day. It's not good for our bodies and it could give us a tummy ache.
We continued adding to our caterpillar creations...legs, eyes, nose, antenna, little hairs. We are learning that some projects take more than one step to complete. Our caterpillars will take a few days, but are getting closer to finished!
We enjoyed exploring in the beans...using our senses and self control (keep those beans in the table)!
With Mrs. Fahey, we worked on sequencing (an early math skill). Each child was given 5 pieces of a kind of food (on paper!) and had to place them in order from smallest to biggest or biggest to smallest. When each person was done we checked them together, and then switch to a different food! Since all children are different, success for some was sequencing all by his/herself. For others, success was getting some hints from his/her friends to help them sequence correctly!
And...blessed again to be outside, working on our daily goal of 60 minutes of physical activity each day!
