Happy Friday from Mrs. Mudd's class!

We sure had some fun on this gorgeous fall day...

Some of us worked on shape recognition and improved hand-eye coordination using magnatiles!

The drive-in theater has been a big part of our free choice time the last couple of days...

Check out this drive-in!

Or...some theaters that are in a building...

Brooklyn and Mara worked the early shift, getting the theater ready for customers!

To finish up morning meeting we worked on quantifying, identifying numbers, and understanding positional words.  One friend would roll the dice and tell the class how many dots they rolled.  He/she would then find that number on the paper.  I would read the word and then...

See if you can figure out what numbers we rolled today!

Then...we had a SURPRISE!!!

We headed outside to watch the annual 8th grade rocket launch.  (They have been preparing them with a partner over the last few weeks)

Three...

Two...One...

BLASTOFF!!!

While watching the rocket launch I asked each friend to draw a picture of what he/she saw.  I then took dictation as each friend told me about his/her picture!  Take a look at them later next week once I have them hanging in the hallway!

After watching those awesome rockets, we took some time for large motor time outside!

We loved listening to Mrs. Linneman, full day preschool teacher, read to us today.  We sure do LOVE having guest readers in our classroom!  If you haven't signed up...there are plenty of spots open in 2018 (and one in November, one in December)!

We enjoyed free choice Friday for a bit in the classroom, then took advantage of the fantastic weather.  More large motor time outside and also a quick trip to the gym!

During Jesus Time today we were reminded that God forgave Jacob and always loved and protected him.  This is just like us if we make a poor choice.  If we ask, we will be forgiven by God.  He will always love us and protect us!

Will returned his matman, George, today!

(You can take a picture of your mat man too...then email to me. I will share it with the class and print a copy to include with your child's mat man drawing from home!)

And...Will was our photographer for the day...great work Will!

Enjoy your weekend!

We had an action packed Thursday in preschool!

The movie theater had a bit more business this morning...must have been showing a good movie!

Jack, Emma, and Reese decided we needed a road that lead to a drive-in movie theater! It ended up snaking all around the classroom!

Kinley improved her small motor control as she traced inside stencils.

And...we worked on shape recognition and improved hand-eye coordination using magnatiles!

To finish up morning meeting we worked on quantifying, identifying numbers, and understanding positional words.  One friend would roll the dice and tell the class how many dots they rolled.  He/she would then find that number on the paper.  I would read the word and then...

Can you figure out what number each friend rolled today?

Mr. Debrick led our chapel service for us today! He was wondering if any of us play or watch sports...baseball, soccer, hockey.  Well sometimes when we do this we cheer our team on, and it's great to cheer for games.  So, let's all cheer for Jesus.  We could do this by standing up and shouting. We could bring an offering.  We could help a friend. We could simply show God's love to others!

We enjoyed a perfect morning outside for large motor time!

Surprise...we had a guest reader on a Thursday!  Mrs. Helmkamp read us two books by the same author (he was the illustrator too).  These two books were all about hats...see if your preschooler can tell you a bit about them!

Last week we read "Iggy Peck, Architect" and took a look at many different materials that we could use to create a building!  Today we saw many pictures of different movie theaters...old, new, even a drive-in.  We thought about and explored our resources, using them in different ways to see how we could build a movie theater.  Each friend has been given a partner (or group of 3).  Each "team" picked out a movie theater that they are going to build together, with the resources we explored today.  We LOVED tinkering with our materials, thinking about how we will use them to build our movie theater next week.

Time for small groups (centers)!

During Phase 1 of our movie project, we often wonder "how" or "why" about many things movie related.  So, each friend had a chance to tell me what he/she wonders about movies.  I took dictation to compile a list of questions, everything we want to know about movies!

With Mrs. Dose we had to match the pieces of popcorn on the popcorn bag to the correct number on a large piece of popcorn.  Recognizing/identifying numbers and connecting them to their quantities are early math skills.  Success for some was getting a little help from a friend. Success for others was working with 1 - 5.  While some were able to work with 1 - 15!

We improved our writing and drawing skills as we wrote/drew about a favorite visit to the movies or a favorite movie!

We practiced language and social skills as we worked/played at "Mudd's Movies"!

After all our hard work we ventured outside to the preschool playground!

Kinley was excited to return her matman today...Princess Ariel!

(You can take a picture of your mat man too...then email to me. I will share it with the class and print a copy to include with your child's mat man drawing from home!)

Max perfected his work as photographer with a few good pictures for the day...

That's a wrap!
