It's hard to believe, but the last day of preschool is here!

The journey, for me, has been fantastic!  Each child is unique and has brought something special to our classroom!  Once again, thank you for the chance to share each day with your child!  For those whose preschool days with Zion are complete...I will miss you, but you will do GREAT next year!  For those returning for another year of preschool...I will see you soon...August will be here in the blink of an eye!

A special thank you to Mrs. Dose and Mrs. Cruz, your hard work and dedication to Zion's children is appreciated more that you will ever know!!!  THANK YOU!!!

Join us for "Popsicles at the Park" on Thursday, May 22 from 9:00 - 11:00 am at Laurel Park. Come and play with your preschool friends and enjoy some yummy popsicles to kick off the summer! (On that note, a parent, grandparent, etc, needs to be in attendance the entire time your child is at the park.) 

If weather is questionable on Thursday morning, Mrs. Kuhlmann will make a decision at 8:30 and she will send out a message via phone if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather.  If you do not receive a phone call at 8:30, come on out...the event is still on!!!

We enjoyed free choice time playing and creating with our friends! These valuable social skills, learned through play, will last a lifetime! We LOVE our friends!

To finish up morning meeting, we sang and danced to "What Do the Letters Say?"  A fun way to practice identifying letters (on the smartboard) and their sounds!

Then a little Veggie Tales dance party!!!

Finally, to celebrate our last day, we joined Mrs. Douglas' class for a Veggie Tales movie!

Before heading outside to play, some friends chose to make one more kite!!!

More time to play, play, play outside (or cool down in the shade!)

One last picnic lunch with Mrs. Douglas' class! (it was quite warm today, thank goodness for shade!!!)

During Jesus Time, Paul the puppet came to remind us of his story.  He was changed, by God's Word and Baptism, to love Jesus and spread the Good News.  Zippy remembered us today too, he came to remind us that even if we make poor choice, God still loves us and forgives us!

One last reminder!

Wednesday, May 21 there is NO hot lunch being served.  Please bring a cold lunch on Wednesday! (Weather permitting we will have a picnic lunch on the playground with Mrs. Douglas' class!)

We had the best day in preschool!

Miss Timm was back to teaching this morning!

More fun today with pieces of pool noodles and bamboo sticks!   We did great remembering our 3 important rules, and had the best time using their small motor skills to gently put the pieces together to create, create, and create!

Aidan was hard at work creating a bridge race track.   It kept falling when a car would race on it!  So we thought together, what would help it stay up...blocks!!!  It worked, placing a block where 2 pieces met kept it from falling down.

The children were able to use tangram shapes and explore them with mirrors.  Not only did they work on spatial relationships, but enjoyed learning more about themselves by simply looking in a mirror! 

Every day this school year, Zion's 7th grade students brought our hot lunch to the classroom and took our dirty snack dishes to be cleaned!  To thank them for doing this (rain, snow, or shine), we finished making them a card!

Alex and Sam decided to use the circle pieces to play checkers!

Since the weather was FANTASTIC this morning...we spent some of free choice time playing outside! (And even got to play with the half day preschoolers!)

Pete the Cat came to visit one last time, still rocking his school shoes!

It's time for Pete to go to school, he explores the whole school in his school shoes. It's all new, but does Pete worry, goodness no!!!

Then each child got to decide what kind of shoes he/she was going to "rock" at school today!  Each child did a great job writing the word all by his/herself (Mrs. Cruz and I did help spell his/her word)!

It was another great day to fly a KITE!!!  

We expressed our creativity and worked the finger, wrist, and hand muscles decorating plastic bag "kites" with stickers!!!

Time to let the kites fly in the wind!

Then...we enjoyed our picnic lunch with Mrs. Douglas' class! (not nearly as windy today!!!)

During Jesus Time we began by discussing ingredients. We decided I had two ingredients on the tray (baking soda in the jar and vinegar in the measuring cup).  When I poured the vinegar in to the jar, it fizzed and bubbled up, almost overflowing!  Wow, what a CHANGE!! One child said, "Woah...we made soda!"  We then remembered the story of the unkind man, Paul.  He was also changed.  What ingredients changed him?  God's Word and Baptism!
