We had a great last day before Easter Break!
We began our morning with a Maundy Thursday chapel service...
Mr. Debrick led the service, reminding us that kings will serve. Jesus, our King, His service/sacrifice for us was to die on the cross to save us and give us eternal life. Service can be something as small as a smile for a friend, helping someone at recess, or helping someone at lunch. It may not always be easy, but it's the right thing to do!
Upon returning from chapel we enjoyed morning free choice time...
To wrap up morning meeting, we "tested" what we remember about positional words! But, before doing that we took a roll, counted or stated the number of dots, found that number on the paper, and I read to them the corresponding positional word. Each friend then chose where he/she wanted to "complete" his/her word!

We had a small group of friends today, so we decided to have snack in the classroom! Being at the smaller tables, we poured our own milk and water! We drank more today than ever...I am pretty sure we enjoyed filling our own cups (and only 1 small spill when passing a water pitcher)!
Time for a little science!
I blew up a balloon and tore up some paper. Then asked what would happen when I rubbed the balloon on my head and then held it over the paper? We made our predictions, then tested them!
We saw that the papers "flew" up and stuck to the balloon.
Before I explained why this happened, we did a similar experiment with a plastic spoon, a metal spoon, a piece of wool fabric, and salt and pepper.
Rub the fabric on each spoon and what will happen when I hold it over the salt and pepper?
Only the pepper stuck, but not the salt, to the plastic spoon!
And...nothing stuck to the metal spoon!
We learned that there were no magnets, glue, or gum making these things stick together. It was static electricity! Static Electricity is a special kind of electricity. It can be made by rubbing some things together. And...did you know...lightning is a kind of static electricity in the clouds!
Time for small groups (centers)!
We are wrapping up our project on music. So, we found out what each friend knows about music now!
We wrote/drew in our journals about a past Easter egg hunt, or what we thought the egg hunt was going to be like at school later in the day!
And...the symphony will have it's final performance tomorrow! So, we took some time to enjoy our instruments and conductor stand!
With Mrs. Dose we had to get our eggs back together again! She gave each friend a top of an egg with a number on it. Each friend stated the number and then found the bottom half of the egg with that number of dots on it. Success for some was working with 1 - 10. Success for others was working with 1 - 20. Not only were we working on early math skills, we also improved small motor control and hand-eye coordination!
We prepared for an egg hunt (with Mrs. Medrano's class) to practice for any we might do this weekend!

After the egg hunt, we had a little time left to play on the preschool playground!
