We had a great end to our NLSW here at Zion!

Let;s Go BOBCATS!!!

We had a tiny bit of time for free choice, before we headed over to our assembly to close out NLSW...

Off to enjoy...singing songs, hearing a devotion about how to "make a joyful noise", and listening to the Joyful Noise middle school choir. We had a BLAST!!!

It was time to see what we remember about positional words!  I had 5 cards, each with a different positional word.  Friends got to "pick a card, any card".  I would read the card aloud and he/she would place his/her body in relation to Madelyn!

Surprise...we enjoyed another "NLSW Early Childhood Party" hosted by Zion's Student Council...

Two more 6th graders were our guest readers today.  We really do LOVE when Zion's "big kids" read to us!

We wrapped up our morning with the ever so favorite...Free Choice Friday!

Even though Friday is not a regular day for us to use the gym, we were able to share with two other classes due to the COLD temps!

During Jesus time we continued learning the story of Zacchaeus, remembering that Jesus loves everyone! We are all sinners, and he just loves us anyway!!!

Have a great weekend!

We had the BEST Thursday at preschool!

It was a little "wacky tacky"!

We improved our writing and drawing skills as we finished decorating the hearts we cut out yesterday! We love seeing them hanging in the windows...

It was time to see what we remember about positional words!  I had 5 cards, each with a different positional word.  Friends got to "pick a card, any card".  I would read the card aloud and he/she would place his/her body in relation to Elsie!

Surprise...we enjoyed a "NLSW Early Childhood Party" hosted by Zion's Student Council...

Then another surprise...a special ice cream treat at snack! I heard it was DELICIOUS ;o)

Today we introduced the letter "D" and number "4"!

We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down, big curve to write a "D" and little line down, little line across, and big line down to write a "4"! Then we came up with words that start with "D" and found "4's" around the room!

Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "D" we can add it to our big letter.  Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with a "D", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!

Lainey returned the favorite book bag today! She shared with us "There's a Monster in my Fridge". We loved hearing from Lainey about her favorite part of the book, and seeing her drawings.  We then enjoyed listening as Mrs. Mudd read it to the class.

This activity is one way to encourage the love of reading.  Also, this activity allows the children (and teacher) to be introduced to new books!  Furthermore, it helps to continue to build home and school connections!

Time for small groups (centers)!

With Mrs. Mudd we worked on part 2 of a creation!  We each drew our self portrait.  Each friend then finished the following 2 statements...

My eyes are ________
My hair is _________

This activity helped improve symbolic development, early writing/drawing, small motor control, and knowledge of self!

Part 1, cutting out snowflakes to add to his/her creation (improving early scissor skills) happened yesterday or earlier in the day!

We took a bit of time today to build boats (out of blocks). We are wondering how different it will be to make them out of aluminum foil next week!

With Mrs. Dose we expressed creativity and improved small motor control as we decorated our bags for Valentines day!

We improved our early scissor skills cutting out paper hearts.  Each paper was folded in half.  Each friend had to cut on the line that Mrs. Mudd had previously drawn. Then...unfold the paper, and just like that we made hearts!  After cutting out his/her heart, he/she could decorate with markers!

Time for some "hoops"...

During Jesus time we loved hearing the story of Zacchaeus. We had so many questions...How short was he? Does God even love the devil? It was great to have these conversations...

Thanks for stopping by!
