Time to get that creativity flowing as we painted with watercolors or created with magnatiles...
We were so excited to improve our creativity and drawing skills as we added fish, frogs, snakes, and turtles to our "pond"!
It's ready for some "fishing"!!!
The Estimate Jar was introduced at the end of morning meeting today! Beginning next week, when checking in, each friend will write his/her name. But, he/she will also write an estimate (good guess) as to "how many" of something is in the jar. There will always be between 1 and 10, but each day will be a different number! Then, at the end of the day I will read the estimates and we will count the exact number in the jar! Today each person said aloud his/her estimate, then we counted together the number of kisses in the jar!
Off to chapel, Mrs. Adams' message today went perfect with our weekly Jesus Time story, teaching us all about the good Samaritan...
Today we introduced the letter "R" and number "7"!
We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down, little curve, little line diagonal to write an "R" and little line across, big line diagonal to write a "7"! Then we came up with words that start with "R" and found "7's" around the room!
Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "R" we can add it to our big letter. Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with an "R", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!
Finally...some warm sun as we enjoyed our time on the playground...
We noticed our new "Camp Kids" sign was up for everyone to see...our campground is almost complete!!!
Time for small groups (centers)!
Friends worked together to make some written signs for our campground, Camp Kids. We improved letter recognition, number recognition, and writing skills as we made our signs!
Prior to today, each friend was given a heart with his/her name and 3 lines drawn on it. Each friend cut his/her heart on the lines, making 4 "puzzle" pieces. Today, with Mrs. Dose each friend put his/her heart puzzle back together, gluing it on a piece of paper. This activity not only worked our motor development and spatial awareness, it also showed persistence, and the ability to listen to and understand directions.
We improved our early literacy skills as we took turns "reading" to a friend or "reading" to self!
We improved our sorting skills as each group sorted all of the unfix cubes, by color!
Another round outside, including perfect February weather...
Charlotte returned the favorite book bag today! She shared with us "Bluey Camping". We loved hearing from Charlotte about her favorite part of the book, and seeing her drawings. We then enjoyed listening as Mrs. Mudd read it to the class.
This activity is one way to encourage the love of reading. Also, this activity allows the children (and teacher) to be introduced to new books! Furthermore, it helps to continue to build home and school connections!
