Happy Friday, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year...all wrapped into one!!! 

It is hard to believe that the first semester is over and the second half of the school year is upon us!  Prayers for each of you for a safe and happy holiday season.  I am looking forward to a GREAT rest of the school year with your wonderful kiddos!

You could feel the excitement in the air today...Christmas is almost here!  But, still one more day of fun and learning with our friends!

There is NO school Monday, December 23 - Friday, January 3…blessings on your Christmas Holiday! (school resumes on Monday, January 6, 2020).

We had a fun day in preschool!

A few reminders...

12:00 Dismissal tomorrow, Friday, December 20…School will dismiss at 12:00 tomorrow to begin Christmas Break.  There is NO half day care option, please make arrangements to pick up your child at 12:00 this day.  We will not be eating lunch at preschool, but we will have morning snack.

There is NO school Monday, December 23 - Friday, January 3…blessings on your Christmas Holiday! (school resumes on Monday, January 6, 2020).

And finally...on to our day...

With snow days on Monday and Tuesday, we missed our Christmas parties! But, Mrs. Helmkamp and I still wanted our friends to do some of the fun activities we had planned, and enjoy the yummy snack!

We decorated our very own Christmas trees...

And worked as a team making a Christmas paper chain to hang in the classroom...

Happy Birthday Cooper! Thank you for sharing your special day with us!

 To finish morning meeting we read together "The Very Hungry Reindeer" by Mrs. Smith (currently a Zion Kindergarten teacher).  This "spin off" of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" has this reindeer eating some silly Christmas things...and he turns into...RUDOLPH!!! Some friends even read along with me today!

We then headed to Miss Bevirt's 3rd grade classroom (our buddy class) where we enjoyed watching/listening to the book "The Brave Little Christmas Tree".

Then, with a third grade buddy, we made our very own brave, little Christmas tree!  The 3rd graders cut the trees out while we got to color the tree trunks brown.  We then glued on a bright yellow star, added lights (shiny jewels), and stood our tree up in it's trunk (cut towel tube)!

And...check out our awesome forest of brave, little Christmas trees!

 Another day closer to Christmas day, so we watched a different Veggie Tales Christmas movie, "The Star of Christmas"!  It taught us all about the true "star of Christmas"...baby Jesus, and the true story of God's love!

 After an action packed morning, we headed to the gym to get our bodies moving!

During Jesus Time today we learned more of the Wisemen following a single star all the way to Bethlehem to find their King and Savior, Jesus!  We know that Jesus is not a King that wore a crown or lived in a palace.  Instead he is our heavenly king, sent to die on the cross to save us from our sins!

What a crazy few days it's been, but welcome back to preschool!

A few reminders...

December Service Project (last chance)...Zion Lutheran School and Church has partnered with Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Louis to assist with an after-school program request. Each Tuesday, Zion members provide after-school care activities, dinner and share Bible stories with 25 to 35 school-aged children. Zion Early Childhood has been asked to prepare school boxes for second semester to give to the after-care children at Christmas. Each classroom will be collecting an item to put in the boxes. Our class is collecting 8 packs (or 10 packs) of markers. There is a tote outside the classroom to place packs of markers until tomorrow, Thursday, 12/19. Thank you for considering this special gift for the after-care students at Bethlehem Church!

We enjoyed the story of Christmas from the eyes of a wiseman's camel, Humphrey, and his journey to meet the baby Jesus!

Then...one more "party" activity...decorating his/her very own Christmas tree!

 As we near closer and closer to Christmas day, we watched a Veggie Tales Christmas movie.  It taught us all about St. Nicholas and the gift of giving to others!

We enjoyed large motor time in  the gym, on this cold, snow covered December day, before heading to lunch!

During Jesus Time we learned about the three wisemen that followed a very special star in the sky to meet baby Jesus. When they arrived they had brought gifts (gold, frankincense, and myrrh) fit for a king, our King and Savior!
