 Happy Friday from Mrs. Mudd's class!

We absolutely love to paint in preschool! Do you remember to get out the paints at home?!?!?

Abram enjoyed another day of snowflake cutting during morning free choice! 

And...Nolan worked hard on his magnatile hotel today...

Mrs. Mudd had 7 items.  We took a minute to talk about each one and "lock" them in our brains! Then while hidden under a towel, Mrs. Mudd took away 2 items! Our friends' job was to recall what was missing!  Today was trickier than usual, some of our items were the same, so we also had to remember the color! But, we did AWESOME anyway, didn't miss even once.  Recognizing and recalling is an early cognitive skill.

Woo Hoo...it's been awhile, so thank you to Hannah's mom, Amy, for being our guest reader via Zoom today!

We got our bodies moving since it was on the cold side for our first outside time!

Birthday girl Rylee enjoyed doing all classroom jobs today, especially being photographer...

During Jesus Time today Zippy visited to tell us of a time that he made a poor choice and was unkind to a friend.  At first he didn't want to share his story with us.  He was afraid we wouldn't be his friend anymore.  We learned that sometimes we hurt our friends when we should be helping them.  But, God forgives us and gives us second chances to be a good neighbor!

Thanks for stopping by our Thursday in preschool!

Today's magnatile creations were all about spaceships and a space station...

Some friends enjoyed making snowflakes from coffee filters!  Look at that strengthening of the finger, wrist, and hand muscles needed for writing!

With our snow days last week, we had a couple of signs for Mudd's Music that didn't get painted. So, we finished up the last two this morning...

Emma tried out her ramp...did it make it all the way to the tunnel?!?!?

Mrs. Mudd had 7 items.  We took a minute to talk about each one and "lock" them in our brains! Then while hidden under a towel, Mrs. Mudd took away 2 items! Today we introduced the letter "R" and number "7"!  

We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down, little curve, little line diagonal to write an "R" and little line across, big line diagonal to write a "7"! Then we came up with words that start with "R" and found "7's" around the room!

Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "R" we can add it to our big letter.  Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with an "R", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!

Then we practiced writing "R" and "7" with crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!

 A bit cooler again this morning, but the sun was shining and so were we!

Time for small groups (centers)!

Uh oh! Our guitars were all messed up. We planned and worked as a group to put them back in order from  1 - 20. Then...we found out how many guitars tall are you?

We improved our writing skills as we wrote in our journals.  We could choose from instrument names from our word wall.

Earlier this week each friend was given a heart with his/her name and 4 lines drawn on it.  Each friend cut his/her heart on the lines, making 5 "puzzle" pieces.  Today, with Mrs. Dose, each friend put his/her heart puzzle back together, gluing it on a piece of paper.  This activity not only worked our motor development and spatial awareness, it also showed persistence, and the ability to listen to and understand directions.

We improved our early literacy skills as we "read" to self.

We were excited to use the jenga blocks for building, and to just get the chance to run and be loud!

During Jesus Time we remembered the story of the Good Samaritan.  Jesus wants us to act like the Good Samaritan.  He helps us to help others when they are in need!
