Welcome back...it's been a whole week since our last blog post ;o)
Gotta love our crazy Missouri weather!
Our blocks and music room were buzzing this morning...
A few friends decided to find a bit of a quieter spot in the classroom...
Magnatiles and...
Painting with watercolors!
Livy and Danny prepared their birthday crowns for their upcoming birthday celebrations!
Beginning next week, for check-in, we will not only be writing our names, we will also be estimating and writing a number we estimate. So, to wrap up morning meeting, I introduced the "Estimate Jar". Each week there will a different item in the jar, each day a different number! This week...hershey kisses!
Today we introduced the letter "B" and number "6"!
We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down, little curve, little curve to write a "B" and big line down, little curve around to write a "6"! Then we came up with words that start with "B" and found "6's" around the room!
Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "B" we can add it to our big letter. Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with a "B", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!
Then we practiced writing "B" and "6" with crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!
Well, another day of cold temps kept all of Zion inside for the morning...It's a good thing we love when we are given the a-okay to run in the hall ;o)
Time for small groups (centers)!
We expressed creativity, improved small motor control, and promoted writing skills as we painted the "Mudd's Music" sign for our pet sore! Each friend painted a letter or a music note (written in pencil first) for our sign.
We planned and worked together, problem solved, and improved hand-eye coordination as we tried to make an instrument out of magnatiles.
We improved writing/drawing skills as we wrote and/or drew about our favorite instruments in our journals!
With Mrs. Dose, we improved our scissor cutting skills as we turned coffee filters into snowflakes to hang around the room!
Then...we were given the ALL CLEAR to head outside for some fresh air and snow!!!
During Jesus Time today Zippy was being quite shy and sad. Some friends at school had told him to go away, so he thought that no one loved him anymore. We reminded him that Jesus will always love him and He says to let the children come to Him! We remembered that Jesus loves us ALL. We know this as He died on the cross to save us from our sins!
Thanks for stopping by...
