Happy Wednesday from Mrs. Mudd's Preschool Class!

While others were enjoying free choice time, each friend (not here yesterday) began his/her day with a special check-in!  Each child completed his/her "February My Name" for his/her portfolio.  All friends were asked to try writing his/her name without using his/her nametag! Most were able to write his/her first name without the help of the nametag.  Others were able to begin, but needed his/her nametag to write last name.  We did GREAT! While each friend wrote his/her name I took special note of :

pencil grip
right or left hand
copied name or wrote from memory

Wiggle worms arrived with penguins and lowercase letters!  If a wiggle worm was picked...well, you know...let's wiggle!!! (And, it's still hard to stop when Mrs. Mudd says freeze. Good practice in self regulation)

If a penguin was picked...give the letter name and the letter sound (early literacy skills).

So...they are still working on the heat in our room (don't worry...it works, but it has to be "started" every morning by our facilities manager)...so we enjoyed a little large motor time in the gym before snack!

Today we introduced the letter "P" and number "5"!

We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down, little curve to write a "P" and little line down, little curve, and little line across to write a "5"! Then we came up with words that start with "P" and found "5's" around the room!

Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "P" we can add it to our big letter.  Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with a "P", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!

Then we practiced writing "P" and "5" with crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!

We were all smiles as we enjoyed the sunshine on the preschool playground!

Time for small groups (centers)!

As we begin our project on music, we needed to find out what each friend already knows about music. Mrs. Mudd took dictation as each friend told me what he/she knows about music!

Some bunnies visited our class. We learned that some people have bunnies as pets, but these bunnies were going to help us practice our numbers and counting!  With Mrs. Dose, each friend was given a bunny, told her the number on it, then fed his/her bunny that number of fruit loops.

We put together a puzzle to help Noah "build" his ark full of animals. A great way to plan and work together while improving spatial awareness.

During Jesus time today we remembered the story of Jesus raising Jairus's daughter from the dead.  Just like Jesus helped Jairus and his daughter, He helped us by dying on the cross and forgiving our sins (the naughty things we sometimes do).  Jesus always helps us and loves us, and that makes us so HAPPY!

Have an awesome night!
