 Welcome to our Wednesday...

Magnatiles were building up and out today...check out just a couple of our creations! Sometimes we have to try, and try again...

Just a couple more hearts to decorate...our windows look GREAT!

Edie was busy baking this morning...

This puppet show was pure joy!!! The giggles and excitement were contagious...

Wiggle worms arrived with penguins and lowercase letters!  If a wiggle worm was picked...well, you know...let's wiggle!!! (And, it's still hard to stop when Mrs. Mudd says freeze. Good practice in self regulation)

 If a penguin was picked...give the letter name and the letter sound (early literacy skills).

For Science time we read "Just One More Swim" to lead us into one of our centers, discovering what keeps animals warm!

Then, we bundled up in our coats to keep us warm while we were outside!

Time for small groups (centers)!

With Valentine's day around the corner, we talked as a group about "places we love".  Here are just a few that we came up with today!

With Mrs. Mudd we each put a bare hand in a bowl of ice water...we counted to 10 to see if we could keep it in there that long...brrr it was cold!

Then I added a bag full of animal fat (crisco), with a plastic bag inside.  Each friend placed his/her hand in the plastic bag, and held again for 10 seconds.  They discovered that the "fat" protected us from the cold water.  Just like the fat on an animal protects them from cold weather/water.

With Mrs. Fahey, we worked on a 3D project...making snowmen with marshmallows, glue, markers, and toothpicks!  We had so much fun...little did they know they were learning to follow multi-step directions and improving small motor control!

 We had a chance to "read to self"!

Then we enjoyed some large motor time in the sunshine!

Chase returned the favorite book bag today! He shared with us "The Human Body". We loved hearing from Chase about his favorite part of the book, and seeing his drawings.  We then enjoyed listening as Mrs. Mudd read it to the class.

Ask your kiddo what was extra special about this book today...it was pretty amazing. One friend kept saying, "I can't believe my eyes!"

This activity is one way to encourage the love of reading.  Also, this activity allows the children (and teacher) to be introduced to new books!  Furthermore, it helps to continue to build home and school connections!

During Jesus Time we remembered the story of Jesus feeding the Five Thousand!  He made enough food for 5,000 people from one boy's small lunch!  Only a miracle that Jesus could make happen!  We remembered that God always provides for us.  He gives us food and drink, clothes and home, help when we are sick, and a family to love us!  And He gave us Jesus to care for us and to take away our sins!

 We sure enjoyed our Tuesday in preschool!

A couple reminders...

Valentines to give to Friends...Our class will have our valentine parties on Tuesday, February 13 and Wednesday, February 14. Prior to the parties, each child will be making a valentine bag, at school.  Please have your child prepare 21 valentines at home (1 for each child in the class) and bring them on 2/13 or 2/14.  See email sent on Friday, 1/12 with additional details and tips!

There is NO school on Friday, 2/16 and Monday, 2/19!

On to our day...

We had some hearts left over from last week that still needed to be cut out and decorated (just a few left to go)! We were up to the task and now we are enjoying them hanging on the windows in our classroom!

Today we introduced the letter "P" and number "5"!  

We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down, little curve to write a "P" and little line down, little curve, and little line across to write a "5"! Then we came up with words that start with "P" and found "5's" around the room!

Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "P" we can add it to our big letter.  Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with a "P", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!

Not as pretty as yesterday, but we were still SO happy to be outside again for large motor time!!!

With me we used candy hearts to create patterns.  I did my best to only observe as I continue working on 3rd quarter portfolio items!  The ability to recognize and create patterns is an early math skill!  Success for many was creating a pattern on his/her own.  Success for some was me starting the pattern and him/her continuing it.

We remembered that not only can we listen to and sing music, we can also dance to it!!! Time for a little dance party to Jim Gill songs!  

We had another center, but SHHH! It is top secret!  You just might get to see it in the next week or two!
