What a FUN Wednesday at preschool!

We had a tiny bit of time for free choice, before we headed over to "big kid" chapel for NLSW...

Mr. Marolf reminded us that we are all CHOSEN by God. We may have plans for our future, but the true plans are those that God has chosen for each of us!

Happy 1/2 Birthday Nolan! Thank you for sharing your special day with us...

We were headed to the commons for some scooter time, great for core strength!

Henry returned the favorite book bag today! He shared with us "Sweet Dreams, Curious George". We loved hearing from Henry about his favorite part of the book, and seeing his drawings.  We then enjoyed listening as Mrs. Mudd read it to the class.

This activity is one way to encourage the love of reading.  Also, this activity allows the children (and teacher) to be introduced to new books!  Furthermore, it helps to continue to build home and school connections!

Time for small groups (centers)!

With Mrs. Mudd we worked on part 1 of a creation!  We each drew our self portrait.  Each friend then finished the following 2 statements...

My eyes are ________
My hair is _________

This activity helped improve symbolic development, early writing/drawing, small motor control, and knowledge of self!

Part 2, cutting out snowflakes to add to his/her creation (improving early scissor skills) will happen later this week and next week!

We improved our early scissor skills cutting out paper hearts.  Each paper was folded in half.  Each friend had to cut on the line that Mrs. Mudd had previously drawn. Then...unfold the paper, and just like that we made hearts!  After cutting out his/her heart, he/she could decorate with markers!

With Mrs. Fahey, we improved recognizing/identifying upper and lowercase letters (and their sounds). Each friend was given a penguin with an uppercase letter on it. He/she had to say the letter and the sound it makes.  Then he/she found the lowercase letter match on the carpet!

We took a bit of time today to build boats (out of blocks). We decided this was quite different than making them with aluminum foil like we did yesterday and this morning!

After our hard work during centers...we had fun in the gym! We even made a few baskets...

Whew...it was a whirlwind of a day! We hoped you enjoyed it as much as we did!
