Happy Friday from Mrs. Mudd's Preschool Class!
Remember...there is NO school on Monday, 9/1 in observance of Labor Day.
Look at all the writing and creating this morning. We even had to problem solve...Finley wanted to join her friends, but there were only 4 chairs. So, what could we do? Right away, 2 friends helped us out...we could get a blue chair from the round table and make room for Finley!!! Way to go girls.

Syler spent some time this morning "reading" to self. Even though he may not be truly reading the words he is demonstrating an understanding that the words have meaning and can be read!
More playdoh fun...keep on working those finger, wrist and hand muscles!!!
Check out Thomas investigating our jewels with a magnifying glass. A future scientist perhaps?!?!? He had a great time exploring the differences in jewels.

Today we used our wood pieces to improve understanding of spatial relationships and naming body parts. I also introduced 3 fun, big words...Vertical, Horizontal, and Diagonal. Moving the wood pieces in these positions prepares our friends to make many of the uppercase letters. Some of the fun positional words we practiced today were: UNDER your chair, Out to the SIDE, Hold in FRONT of you, Hold at the BOTTOM, MIDDLE, TOP, Have the big line stand UP and "walk" ON your arm.

Time for small groups!!!
Each child spent time "reading" to self on the letter carpet. Pretending to read a familiar book, using pictures as cues to what the story is about are early reading skills.
While balancing on the beam, our friends stepped, marched, walked sideways over different shapes. As he/she stepped over each shape, he/she said it aloud. Recognizing and identifying shapes is an early math skill (and super fun when getting to do it on a beam, demonstrating balancing skills).
With Mrs. Dose we put together mini rhyming puzzles. Find the 2 pictures that rhyme and they will fit together! The ability to recognize and/or generate rhyme is an early literacy skill.
With me we practiced identifying numbers and counting that number of blocks (early math skills). I would hold up a baseball with a number on it. Each child would tell me the number then count out that number of blocks. Since all children are different, success for some was recognizing and counting 1 - 5. For others, success was recognizing and counting 1 - 10.
Gym time = FUN time!
During Jesus Time today Zippy came to visit again! We remembered that Zippy loves to build things, and found out that it makes him sad when his brother messes them up. We learned that Adam and Eve messed up God's world when they listened to the devil and ate from one of the trees in the garden. That made God sad. But, we also learned that God still loved them. He forgave them. Just like He still loves us and forgives us when we make poor choices.
