Happy Friday from Mrs. Mudd's Class!

Max took a tumble yesterday at school and broke his arm. We wanted him to know we were thinking about him and praying for him.  So, our friends worked on a get well card for Max during our morning free choice time!  Max should be back to school very soon!

After our class card was complete, a few others wanted to write him a note of his/her own!

To wrap up morning meeting today...yep...that's right...tricky mouse is back!  This week he brought upper and lower case letters to hide under!!!  But, can't fool us, we knew all these letters and found him every time!

We enjoyed using the scooters in the commons...

Or just running, running, running to get our bodies moving!

Our guest reader today was Mrs. Reed (Zion Kindergarten teacher)!  We LOVED the Elephant and Piggie book she read to us, complete with voices for each character in the book!

Check out just a few of our activities for Free Choice Friday...

We had a great time in the gym, playing with other preschool classes!

During Jesus Time today we remembered the wonderful gift Jesus gave us by dying on the cross to save us from our sins.  We also remembered that if we do make a poor choice, there is still a consequence.  But, because of His sacrifice we get to live with Jesus forever in heaven!

Have a great weekend!

We had a great Thursday in preschool!

Some friends were hard at work, trying and trying again, to build their creation just right!

Evie improved her writing/drawing skills as she painted a beautiful parrot with watercolors!

Time for some of our pets to visit the groomers!

It takes a lot of planning, persistence, and spatial awareness to build a shark aquarium and pet shelter like these!

To wrap up morning meeting today...yep...that's right...tricky mouse is back!  This week he brought upper and lower case letters to hide under!!!  But, can't fool us, we knew all these letters and found him every time!

We were so excited that the rain decided to stay away this morning so we could enjoy large motor time in the nice, fresh outside air!

It's science time, and Scientist Mudd had returned.  Our friends cheered me on and helped me count as we added drops of food coloring to make red, yellow, and blue water. (the other 3 cups remained empty)

Then each child gave his/her prediction as to what would happen if the water was mixed together:

Then, back to our colored water.  I was cheered on again as I added paper towels reaching from one cup to the other, creating a color wheel...

Then we WAIT!!!  These experiments where we have to wait are tough...but we are learning that sometimes things don't happen right away...sometimes we have to be patient and wait!  Scientist Mudd gave us some instructions before she left:  Remember to look at the color wheel every hour or so and take a picture.

So...we did just that...one hour later:
The paper towels are drawing the colored water into the empty cups and the colors begin to mix!

And about  2 1/2 hours later:
We were excited to see a full color wheel created from primary colors:

Red and yellow = orange
Yellow and blue = green
Blue and red = purple

 Time for small groups (centers)!

Mrs. Mudd assessed sorting skills as each friend sorted jelly beans.  Most friends figured out very quickly that sorting by color was the best way to go!

After sorting the jelly beans, each friend had to count how many of each color he/she had.  Then, each friend colored in that number of squares for each color, creating his/her very own jelly bean graph! We did an EXCELLENT job with these early math skills!

With Mrs. Dose we experimented a bit more to see what would happen if we mixed certain colors together using crayons!  There were 3 overlapping circles.  We colored one red, one blue, and one yellow (primary colors).  What colors do you have now???

We improved our large motor movement and ability to listen and follow directions while dancing along to Jim Gill songs!

We finished out our morning with one more outside time to get our wiggles out before lunch!

During Jesus Time today we remembered that Jesus showed His love for us in many ways.  He wore a crown of thorns.  He died upon a cross.  He saved us from our sins!

Thanks for checking out our day!
