Thanks for checking out our Thursday!
Many enjoyed creating with good junk, with friends. Social skills at work while also developing writing/drawing skills!
Grant takes a look from another angle...as he and Wesleigh build together with candy construction!
It's been awhile since friends have chose to paint...someone noticed we had pictures of a bird that looked a lot like our new friend, Charmin!
"Dinosaurs in the Den" wrapped up morning meeting today! We started with 5 dinosaurs...
Some got a little sleepy and decided to take a nap in their den! Our job was to figure out how many dinosaurs were sleeping by counting how many dinosaurs stayed out to play. How many are in the den if 1 is left outside to play??? This is a tough concept to grasp, it was still tricky for many of us today. But, as the week goes on, we continue to improve upon this early math skill!
Gabriella returned the favorite book bag today, bringing in "This book just ate my dog!" to share with us! We loved hearing from Gabriella about her favorite part of the book, and seeing her drawings. We then enjoyed hearing the story as Mrs. Mudd read (and acted) it to the class.
This activity is one way to encourage the love of reading. Also, this activity allows the children (and teacher) to be introduced to new books! Furthermore, it helps to continue to build home and school connections!
Both playgrounds were a bit water logged this morning, so we enjoyed our large motor time in the commons...
We continued our STEAM activity today. After reading "A Home for Dixie" last week, we wondered how did the family get that puppy home??? A pet carrier, of course! So, today we finished creating pet carriers from boxes and other loose parts.
Each friend was given a partner and together they had to plan/decide how to start their pet carrier. First, we noticed all pet carriers have a door, so decide where/how to have a door. Second, we need a way to carry it, so what will you use and how will you attach a handle?
Each team worked and planned together as they problem solved to create a door and add a handle! Finally each group was given free choice as to how to decorate/complete their pet carrier!
Then it was the time many of us had been talking about and waiting for ALL morning! Our surprise visitor and pet expert, Miss Carla (and her mom and niece) had arrived!
We met Charmin the cockatoo...
This sweet puppy (yes...puppy...he is still growing) was all about the snuggles and kisses!
A chubby little guinea pig! We loved getting to feed him lettuce and pet his soft fur!
We got to see 5 baby chicks, just 2 weeks old. We learned that by summer these chicks will be old enough to lay brown eggs.
Don't forget Nutmeg...no pink dress today, it was too warm. She was not quite as sure about the kiddos, but was still okay with us petting her!
Finally, we had been waiting for so long...a chance to pet Charmin...AND...let her stand on our arms!!!
After all the pet excitement and getting to ask Miss Carla many of our wonder questions, we braved the wind and enjoyed large motor time outside! The warmer air was welcomed with big smiles!
During Jesus Time today Zippy visited with a special bottle filled with a special fragrance! He was very excited to show us and that made us think of our Bible story for this week. After hearing the story of the woman anointing Jesus head and feet we remembered that Jesus died so that we would be forgiven! So, we must remember to honor and love Him all the time.
Enjoy the rest of your day!
