We had a wonderful Wednesday in preschool!

Our friends were excited to find out officially "How many shamrocks tall are you?"

After being measured, each child had to find that same number on our graph and write his/her name in the correct square!  The ability to measure using non-standard forms of measurement and recognizing/identifying numbers are early math skills.

So far we have the most friends measuring 13 shamrocks tall, with the least friends measuring 10 shamrocks tall!  The ability to compare more, less, and the same is an early math skill!

 To wrap up morning meeting, we "tested" what we remember about positional words!  But, before doing that we took a roll, counted or stated the number of dots, found that number on the paper, and I read to them the corresponding positional word.  Each friend then found their spot in the pet store to "complete" his/her word!

Each preschool class was given the opportunity to talk with Pastor Rouland for a short time this morning. We learned that today is Ash Wednesday, the first day of the season of Lent.  We received ashes on our forehead or hand (or we could say no thank you) as a reminder of all the sins (poor choices) we have made. Remembering that Jesus died on the cross to take away those sins!

Grant returned the favorite book bag today, bringing in "Mr. Wishing Went Fishing" to share with us!  We loved hearing from Grant about his favorite part of the book, and seeing his drawings.  We then enjoyed hearing the story as Mrs. Mudd read it to the class.

This activity is one way to encourage the love of reading.  Also, this activity allows the children (and teacher) to be introduced to new books!  Furthermore, it helps to continue to build home and school connections!

With grandparent/special friend day upon us tomorrow and no school on Friday, we enjoyed "Whatever You Want Wednesday".  Check out just a few of our choices from today...

We loved extra free choice time today, but our room sure got messy.  After working hard to clean up, we enjoyed time to run and play with friends in the gym!

During Jesus Time today we remembered the "parade" that Jesus made riding a donkey.  The people were so excited to see that he was there to save them (they thought from the Romans).  But, He was actually there to save them from their sins...just like He died on the cross to save us from our sins!
