It may have been gloomy outside, but we were sunshine and smiles at school today!

Now that everyone has completed his/her "February My Name", I was able to catch us in action during free choice this morning...

Magnatiles not only improve our hand-eye coordination, it also gives us a chance to learn about sharing and working with others!

Or...a chance to build a masterpiece...

Abram in concentration mode as he improved his scissor cutting skills!

These friends were planning and working together again...we LOVE when the block center is open to build, build, build!

Wiggle worms arrived with penguins and lowercase letters!  If a wiggle worm was picked...well, you know...let's wiggle!!! (And, it's still hard to stop when Mrs. Mudd says freeze. Good practice in self regulation)

If a penguin was picked...give the letter name and the letter sound (early literacy skills).

Today we introduced the letter "P" and number "5"!  

We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down, little curve to write a "P" and little line down, little curve, and little line across to write a "5"! Then we came up with words that start with "P" and found "5's" around the room!

Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "P" we can add it to our big letter.  Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with a "P", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!

Then we practiced writing "P" and "5" with crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!

On a rainy day...we still find a way for large motor play...

Time for small groups (centers)!

As we begin our project on music, we needed to find out what each friend already knows about music. Mrs. Mudd took dictation as each friend told me what he/she knows about music!

Some bunnies visited our class. We learned that some people have bunnies as pets, but these bunnies were going to help us practice our numbers and counting!  With Mrs. Dose, each friend was given a bunny, told her the number on it, then fed his/her bunny that number of fruit loops.

We put together a puzzle to help Noah "build" his ark full of animals. A great way to plan and work together while improving spatial awareness.

After the hard work at center time, we got our wiggles out with dancing songs on the smartboard!

(And...each friend got the chance to run the halls again)

During Jesus Time today Zippy came to visit.  He was frustrated that he couldn't fix his mommy's cold!  We reminded him that God is the only one who can heal someone! Our God is so great, so strong and so mighty, there's nothing our God cannot do!!!
