We had a great start to a new week!

A couple quick reminders...

Our Preschool Advent service...is Sunday, December 15 at 10:30 am in the Zion Church sanctuary.  We will worship together and celebrate the birth of Jesus through word and songs sang by our Preschool students. If your child will NOT be able to attend our Advent Service on 12/15, please let me know (via email) as soon as possible. Please plan to meet the class at 10:10 am in Zion’s church basement (There will be someone there to direct you to the correct room upon arrival to the church basement). Once you drop off your child with his/her teacher(s), you may then go find a seat in the sanctuary. **There will be an opportunity for class photos after the service.  Once our class photo has been taken, each child will return to his/her parents.

12:00 Dismissal on Friday, December 20…School will dismiss at 12:00 on this day to begin Christmas Break.  There is NO half day care option, please make arrangements to pick up your child at 12:00 this day.  We will not be eating lunch at preschool, but we will have morning snack.

There is NO school Monday, December 23 - Friday, January 3…blessings on your Christmas Holiday! (school resumes on Monday, January 6, 2020).

On to our day...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in preschool!

Our friends were so excited to see that Christmas popped up in the classroom while we were on Thanksgiving break! The "candy construction" building set arrived for the season.  We had the best time expressing creativity and improving fine motor control while building with "candy"!

Johnathan improved his spatial awareness as he put together an alphabet puzzle!

Oliver improved his hand-eye coordination as he created with legos!

Some friends improved small motor control and expressed creativity as they made ornaments for our class Christmas tree!

And...then they got to hang them on the tree all by themselves!

A new month has snuck up on us once again, so we have another pie graph to investigate!  We were surprised to see that November had the same colors as October.  By just looking we could tell that we had the same number of cloudy days as we did sunny days! Being able to compare more, less, and the same is an early math skill.

We then finished up morning meeting with Wiggle Worm...he is back!!!  Today he brought with him uppercase letters on snowflakes.  If wiggle worm was picked from the bag...everybody WIGGLE, then stop!  Having to stop is tough, but it helps us learn self regulation!

  If a letter is picked, that friend told everyone the letter name and the letter sound!

We enjoyed a cold morning outside for large motor time! Everyone returned inside with rosy, cold cheeks and noses...

Today we introduced the letter "S" and number "2"!  

We remembered start your letter "at the top" then little curve, turn, little curve to write an "S" and big curve, little line at the bottom to write a "2"! Then we came up with words that start with "S" and found "2's" around the room!

Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "S" we can add it to our big letter.  Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with an "S", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!

Then we practiced writing "S" and "2" with crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!

Time for small groups (centers)!

 We improved scissor cutting skills as we cut Christmas wrapping paper into small pieces!  We can then use these small pieces to create with as it gets a bit closer to Christmas!

We improved our writing (and reading) skills as we wrote in our journals.  Our friends were excited about the new Christmas words that we added to our word wall this morning!

 Then...we did 2 other centers...but, they are TOP SECRET! (You might get to find out about them on Christmas Day?!?!?)

We enjoyed large motor time in the gym...we loved every minute there!

AJ had a blast as photographer! He managed to take over 120 pictures...here are a few ;o)

During Jesus Time today we began learning all about the Savior coming!  We talked about how having to wait and wait for something is not easy.  There were many important people that God used for many things, but none were the Savior, we had to wait.  But, don't worry, He had a plan!  Finally an angel appeared to Mary, she was going to have a baby, Jesus, the Savior!  He was being sent to save us from our sins!
