We had a great Thursday in Mrs. Mudd's class!
We improved writing and drawing skills as we used our finger, wrist, and hand muscles to paint!
And, we strengthened our small motor control and hand-eye coordination using geoboards...
A bit of problem solving to get the ball to roll "just right"!
To wrap up morning meeting we discussed a couple of graphs in our classroom, learning about more, less, and the same...
Pastor Rouland and Rupert retold the story of the Good Samaritan, reminding us the best gift we can give is to show God's love to others. Even if it's for something very small!
Cold temps means wiggles out in the commons...
Today we introduced the letter "J" and number "3"!
We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down, little curve at the bottom, then little line at the top (give it a hat) to write a "J" and little curve, little curve to write a "3"! Then we came up with words that start with "J" and found "3's" around the room!
Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "J" we can add it to our big letter. Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with a "J", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!
Time for small groups (centers)!
Last week we made snow for our sensory table. Today, we made a different kind of "snow". Each friend was given a blue sheet of paper and a white 3x5 card. As I observed his/her scissor cutting skills, each friend cut the white paper however he/she chose. Then, glued that white paper onto the blue paper, making...SNOW!
With Mrs. Dose, friends worked on part 2 of our winter scene art. They worked with crayons to finish our scene. Each friend drew the body parts or clothes for his/her snowman. Then could also add other items (a snowy hill or trees) to create a wintery background.
And...we had a few snowmen that needed help getting back in order from smallest to biggest and biggest to smallest. So, we gave a lending hand and did just that! The ability to compare and order a small set of objects by size is an early math skill!
We improved our balance while also practicing letter identification and letter sounds! As, each friend stepped over a letter, he/she said the letter name and gave the letter sound.
We bundled up and enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine on the parking lot playground!
