It's that time of year...many reminders!

It's here...The Week of the Young Child, May 5th-9th.  We are celebrating the blessing of young children, especially all of the young children here at Zion!  As part of the celebration, there will be optional dress-up days this week.  The remaining days are listed below:

Thursday:  Stripes Day
Friday:  Mismatched Day

The last day of preschool is Wednesday, May 21.

Join us for "Popsicles at the Park" on Thursday, May 22 from 9:00 - 11:00 am at Laurel Park.  Come and play with your preschool friends and enjoy some yummy popsicles to kick off the summer!

Our Wednesday was a little wacky!!!

We started the morning off as usual, enjoying free choice play!  The boys jumped right in, planning and working together to create a train city !

Derek has been showing God's love again this week, showing and sharing his lego book with friends!  Find a topic that interests your child and they will not want to put the books down!!!

Ryan concentrates on tangrams!  These "puzzles" not only allow children to practice recognizing shapes, but also work on spatial awareness!

Look at the group of readers...it grew!!!

Cut, cut, cut...great for working the finger, wrist and hand muscles!

Look at all the BOBCAT spirit!!!  Thank you for helping us celebrate your children!

Mrs. Kuhlmann led chapel for us this morning!  We did a great job helping her out with the Bible story.  Peter and the disciples were going fishing...they threw out their nets and waited, waited, waited all night.  They didn't catch anything.  Then they saw a man on the beach, He told them to throw the nets on the other side of the boat.  All of a sudden, the net was FULL of fish.  They were so happy.  Peter was so excited he jumped in and swam to shore to see who the man was...it was Jesus!!!  Alleluia!  He is alive!!!

Kayla chose the job of messenger today, so she took the offering to the alter for the class!

Remember how I said today was a little wacky???  First we got to have snack in the fellowship hall at church with Mrs. Douglas' class!

Then, to help us celebrate this special week, we attended a field trip from the botanical gardens!

Miss Tanya reminded us about our 5 senses!

She read a book to us about the 5 senses!

Then, we got to sing a song about the 5 senses!

Miss Tanya brought 5 different plants that we used our senses to explore!

1.  What does the plant look like?
2.  What does the plant smell like?
3.  What does the plant feel like?

One rule for today...we did not taste the plants...since so many friends had been touching them!

Then, we had to listen for the timer and freeze, time to switch plants!

We colored a plant journal (the back has a coupon on it!!!)

Finally, each child got to plant some lettuce seeds!!!  Be looking for those to come home today!

After our fun filled morning...more fun during outside time!!!

To keep the fun going...we had 2 guest readers today...first Haylee!!!

And our second....Derek!!!
