It's that time of year...many reminders!
It's here...The Week of the Young Child, May 5th-9th. We are celebrating the blessing of young children, especially all of the young children here at Zion! As part of the celebration, there will be optional dress-up days this week. The remaining day is listed below:
Friday: Mismatched Day
The last day of preschool is Wednesday, May 21.
Join us for "Popsicles at the Park" on Thursday, May 22 from 9:00 - 11:00 am at Laurel Park. Come and play with your preschool friends and enjoy some yummy popsicles to kick off the summer!
Welcome to our Thursday!
Sophia started the day "dressing" her dinosaur with wiki sticks! Awesome way to express creativity and use her finger, wrist and hand muscles! (Wiki sticks are very sticky, and sometimes tough to pull apart!)
Kayla and Addy also wanted to work their finger, wrist and hand muscles...with stickers!
Ben expresses his creativity and works on his hand-eye coordination as he builds a tower!
Sam, with some help from Ben, whips up a quick meal!!!
Andy settled in, comfy and cozy, for some light reading!
The ramps were popular today...used the entire time during free choice!
The group of readers and/or writers has grown!!! Writing enables a child to use a variety of materials for self-expression.
Haylee is taking great care of her baby!
The kiddos were still excited to see tricky mouse bring milk and cookies for us to practice letters. Since success for all children is different, there were some uppercase and some lowercase letters for the children to choose.
Four of our friends that were not here yesterday had their field trip with the botanical gardens today! They learned all about honey bees and flowers!
To start small group time, we experimented with our sense of hearing today! The 7 items below all make a different sound. The children turned around as I would make the sound of one object. They had to figure out which item was making that sound without being able to see it! I was only able to fool them once or twice! Using the empty container as a drum and hitting the 2 paper towel rolls together sounded very similar.
We worked on one more "top secret" project...sorry...no pictures!!!
With me, we practiced writing letters in salt. I would show an uppercase or lowercase letter, they would say the name the of letter, then each child would write that letter 3 times in salt with his/her finger. A fun way to practice identifying and forming letters!
On their own, we completed tangrams. Great for identifying shapes and spatial awareness (early math skills).
The warm weather was wonderful!!! Yay for outside time!!!

During Jesus Time today, Rhoda the puppet came to visit to remind us of Peter's story. God answered her friends' prayers by freeing Peter from jail! We were reminded that we can pray anytime, anywhere. God hears our prayers and will answer them how He knows is best.
