Two quick reminders...
There is NO school on Thursday, 10/30 for Parent Teacher Conferences.
There is NO school Friday, 10/31 for fall break!
On to our day...
Davie spent some time with mat man...he'd like you to meet...

We did a great job of painting beautiful fall leaves...
Many were excited to see geoboards had emerged again! Great for problem solving, small motor control, and forming shapes!
Planning and teamwork make for a pretty amazing garage for our cars!
To finish morning meeting I placed 6 nature items on the carpet! Our friends job was to study the items and then "lock" them in his/her brain. I covered them up with a towel and took 1 or 2 items away! I couldn't even fool them one time! Recognizing and recalling is an early cognitive skill.
Today we introduced the letter "E"!
We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down, little line across, little line across, little line across for the "E"! Then we came up with words that start with "E"!
Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "E" we can add it to our big letter. Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with an "E", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!
Charlotte found two pictures from home that start with "E"! "Eleanor" (her sister) and "eyes"...
Then we practiced writing "E" with crayon (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!
Off to a sunny, but windy, preschool playground!
Time for small groups (centers)!
With me, each child painted a unique piece using corn on the cob as his/her painting tool! This year we used plastic corn, due to a food allergy ;o)
With Mrs. Trower we practiced connecting numbers to their quantities (early math skill). At the bottom of each section of an egg carton was a number. Each child counted out that number of bowtie pasta and placed in that section of the egg carton. Success for some was being able to complete 1 - 6. Success for others was being able to complete 1 - 12.
We combined some large motor activity with identifying letters and their sounds (early literacy skill). As each child stepped over a letter on a piece of pizza (while staying on the balance beam), he/she said the letter name and the sound it makes.
Each friend improved writing/drawing skills as they wrote/drew about something fun they do for Halloween!
With jackets back on...we enjoyed playing outside on the parking lot playground...
During Jesus time today we remembered Joseph and how unkind his brothers were to him. Years later they came looking to Joseph for help. Instead of him being unkind, he forgave his brothers and helped them in their time of need.
