What a "character" you are...

Friday, 10/17: SUPER SPIRIT Day! 

Magnatile work continues to be a great way to improve small motor control!

Violet is an everyday painter...love that she enjoys it so much!

Tricky Mouse is back! Today he brought with him numbers 1 - 12! He hid below many numbers, but he didn't fool us. We figured out where he was every time by identifying the different numbers between 1 and 12!  Identifying/recognizing numbers is an early math skill! After we identified the number and checked for tricky mouse, we identified the shape and the color too!

Today we introduced the letters "L" and "F"!  

We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down, little line across for the "L" and big line down, little line across, little line across for the "F"! Then we came up with words that start with "L" and "F"!

Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "L" or "F" we can add it to our big letter.  Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with an "L" or "F", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!

Then we practiced writing "L"  and "F" with crayon (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!

Off to the preschool playground to move, move, move!

To begin small groups (centers), I read to the class, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar".  We decided it wasn't the best choice to eat so much unhealthy food in one day.  It's not good for our bodies and it could give us a tummy ache.

We continued adding to our caterpillar creations...legs, eyes, nose, antenna, little hairs. We are learning that some projects take more than one step to complete, but our caterpillars are finished!

We enjoyed exploring in the beans...using our senses and self control (keep those beans in the table)!

With Mrs. Dose, we worked on sequencing (an early math skill).  Each child was given 5 pieces of a kind of food (on paper!) and had to place them in order from smallest to biggest or biggest to smallest.  When each person was done we checked them together, and then switch to a different food!  Since all children are different, success for some was sequencing all by his/herself.  For others, success was getting some hints from his/her friends to help them sequence correctly!

Outside again, working on our daily goal of 60 minutes of physical activity each day!

During Jesus Time today we heard the story of Joseph and the coat of many colors. His brothers were so jealous, but we remembered that God made each of us special and He loves us all!
