 We are having a fun Red Ribbon Week!

Red Ribbon Week…is here, October 14 - 17. This is the week that people and communities unite and take a visible stand against substance abuse. Show your personal commitment to a drug-free and healthy lifestyle (preschool will focus on healthy eating/exercising) through the symbol of the Red Ribbon and these fun dress days (see Sycamore for additional details for dress up days):

Wednesday, 10/15: Superhero Day!
Thursday, 10/16: Character/Actor Day!
Friday, 10/17: SUPER SPIRIT Day! 

There is NO school on Thursday, 10/30 for Parent Teacher Conferences. (You should have received an email on Monday from Zion on how to sign up for conferences by Friday, 10/17).

There is NO school Friday, 10/31 for fall break!

Faye has been experimenting with mixing her watercolor paints to make new colors!

We just can't get enough magnatiles...we build, then take it apart, repeat!

"Preschool Pizza" was busy preparing food for their customers...

Tricky Mouse is back! Today he brought with him numbers 1 - 12! He hid below many numbers, but he didn't fool us. We figured out where he was every time by identifying the different numbers between 1 and 12!  Identifying/recognizing numbers is an early math skill! After we identified the number and checked for tricky mouse, we identified the shape and the color too!

We enjoyed 2 short videos that helped us understand where food comes from!

Many of our friends' first response was the store, a few said the garden. We learned that most of our food comes from a farm (or a garden). Even if we buy it at the store, it is made/raised on the farm first!

We then read this fun book that taught us all about where milk comes from!

We moved and moved on the playground this morning! We were hot and ready for drinks of water when we got inside...

To begin small groups (centers), I read to the class, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar".  We decided it wasn't the best choice to eat so much unhealthy food in one day.  It's not good for our bodies and it could give us a tummy ache.

With Mrs. Mudd, each child began creating his/her own hungry caterpillar. Today we painted the body and head using BIG marshmallows! We are learning that some projects take more than one step to complete. Our caterpillars will take a few days!

Uh oh...our popsicles were broken apart and we had to put them back together. With Mrs. Trower we found two pictures that rhymed (it helped that the match was the same color) and put the popsicles back together again! Rhyming is an early literacy skill...

In his/her journal, each child practiced writing food words. He/she would pick one word card at a time and try to write that word in his/her journal. What great writing practice!

Off to the outdoors we go...

Miss Steinbacher led our Jesus Time today retelling the story of Joseph, his special coat, and his brothers. She reminded us that we love, because God first loved us. We forgive, because God first forgave us. We serve, because God first served us!
