There is NO school Friday, 10/31 for fall break!
Here we go...
We began our day with a special check-in! Each child (not here yesterday) completed his/her "October My Name" for his/her portfolio. Each friend could choose whether or not he/she wanted to use his/her name tag for guidance! Some friends chose to write from memory this time! While each friend wrote his/her name I took special note of :
pencil grip
right or left hand
copied name or wrote from memory
We continued to improve hand-eye coordination as we built with magnatiles and stacking cups!
"Mrs. Mudd, your order is ready!"
Librarian Elsie chose a fun book to wrap up morning meeting!
Time for a little science!
We began with a half glass of water, raisins, baking soda, and vinegar.
I asked what would happen when we add all the ingredients together? I took dictation as each friend gave me their prediction...
We got to see the vinegar react with the baking soda and create a "volcano" of bubbles. But...when most of the bubbles disappeared....
We saw "Dancing Raisins"!!!
We learned that the bubbles made on the raisins make them rise to the top of the water. When the bubbles pop, the raisins sink back to the bottom!
We sure were loving the cooler, fall air as we got our bodies moving outside...
For center time today, we worked as one big group!
We learned all about the 5 food groups and "my plate"...
We wrapped up with a dancing song, using different actions depending on what type of food was on the screen (we sure had to listen and follow directions)...
We enjoyed bikes, as always!
While many friends tried to collect leaves and make the biggest leaf pile ever!
During Jesus Time today we learned how it must have been scary for Abraham and Sarah to have to move far away, where they knew no one. But, they trusted in God and that He would keep His promise! We know that we can trust in God and His promise to bless us with what we need!
See you again tomorrow...
