Thank you for checking out our Wednesday!

Many friends enjoyed magnatiles this morning, understanding 2D and 3D shapes!

Sammy was excited to create a runway for one of our toy airplanes!

 Our airport had some new items when we arrived at school today...nametags for the different jobs at the airport, and tickets, security passes, and checked baggage tags!

We decorated and put together a few light wood airplanes to add to our "miniature" airport...

 While friends were enjoying free choice in the classroom, a few friends worked with me as we completed a bit of preparation for Grandparent/Special Friend Day!  I gave him/her a quick interview about his/her grandparents!

The Estimate Jar was introduced at the end of morning meeting again today!  Beginning next week, when checking in, each friend will write his/her name.  But, he/she will also write an estimate (good guess) as to "how many" of something is in the jar.  There will always be between 1 and 10, but each day will be a different number! Then, at the end of the day I will read the estimates and we will count the exact number in the jar!  Today each person said aloud his/her estimate, then we counted together the number of rolos in the jar!

And...MORE crazy MO weather...large motor time was spent in the commons!!!  But, our friends thought that was awesome, that meant more scooter time!

Today we introduced the letter "K" and number "8"!  

We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down, little line diagonal, little line diagonal to write a "K" and make an "S" and go back home to write an "8"! Then we came up with words that start with "K" and found "8's" around the room!

Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "K" we can add it to our big letter.  Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with a "K", bring it in and he/she can glue it to our big letter!

Then we practiced writing "K" and "8" with crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!

Time for small groups (centers)!

We expressed creativity, improved small motor control, and promoted writing skills as we painted a "Gate 20" sign and a "Security" sign for our airport!  Each friend painted over a letter that I had written in pencil and painted over designs already drawn on the paper...

We planned and worked together, problem solved, and improved hand-eye coordination as we tried to make an airplane out of magnatiles.  We even had an awesome example on the smartboard to guide us along!

We improved writing/drawing skills as we wrote about/drew airplanes in our journals!

With Mrs. Dose, we improved our scissor cutting skills as we turned coffee filters into snowflakes to hang around the room!

We got the wiggles out during large motor time in the gym!

During Jesus Time today I had brought a special surprise for Zippy!  I had $10 for him.  He came to class, so excited about visitors coming to his house.  Every time I tried to tell him about my gift he would interrupt, telling us everything he had to do to get ready.  Then...he ran out!  Our friends were bummed that he didn't get his gift.  We learned that it is so important to slow down and LISTEN.  If we don't take the time to listen, we may miss out on super fun things!

Ella enjoyed being photographer again today...
