And...all of a sudden it's Friday again!
A few friends enjoyed cutting and coloring more hearts to decorate the windows in our classroom! Manipulating a scissors can be hard work, but great for strengthening the finger, wrist, and hand muscles!
Mara and Brooklyn were excited to finish their heart butterfly coloring sheets from yesterday!
Look at the the creativity and imagination as many friends created with magnatiles this morning! It takes great hand-eye coordination to be able to build these without knocking them over in the process! Or, sometimes the creation doesn't quite work out as expected, and we have learned to just keep on trying, but in a new way!
Reese and Emma work together as they improve spatial awareness while completing a puzzle...
Woo Hoo!!! Tricky Mouse was here for one last visit this week!!! He brought cards with lowercase letters on them!!! He hid under different letters and we did our best to find him. Success for some was knowing each letter. Success for others was knowing some of the letters. While success for a few was getting help with the letters from a friend!
Yippee for warmer temps and no precipitation! Day #2 of large motor time outside!
Mrs. Schenck, ELP teacher, was our guest reader today! She first read to us a book all about the snow, and all the fun, silly things you can do in the snow. We are hoping for at least one more day of enough snow this year, so we can all try some of these fun things!
She then read us a book about airplanes/airports! As we are in the very beginning stages of a project on airplanes, this book gave us many great ideas to create an airport/airplane in our classroom!
Emma returned the favorite book bag today! She shared with us "The Jungle Book". We loved hearing from Emma about her favorite part of the book, and seeing her drawings. We then enjoyed hearing the story as Mrs. Mudd read it to the class. Some friends quickly realized that they had also seen this movie!
This activity is one way to encourage the love of reading. Also, this activity allows the children (and teacher) to be introduced to new books! Furthermore, it helps to continue to build home and school connections!
Free Choice Friday was in full swing...
And then...it was time to pack up our kitchen and begin "building" our airport!!! We could hardly contain our excitement, it was tough to remember that we had to do a bit of work before we could play in the airport! We are off to a good start, but "building" an airport will take some hard work ;o)
And...we were all smiles when we realized the "big kid" playground was in our future!
During Jesus time today we watched "God's Story: Two Sons and a Father" to retell the story of the lost son. This reminded us that God will always forgive us and will always love us, even when we make poor choices!
