 We had a great day in preschool!

A couple of reminders...

There is NO school on Monday, February 19 in observance of Presidents’ Day.

Preschool is singing at church...our class (together with Mrs. Linneman’s and Mrs. Rouland's PS classes) is singing at Zion Lutheran Church at the 5:00 pm service on Saturday, 2/24.  Please join us for worship and to hear little ones sing praise to Jesus!  Please arrive at 4:45 pm and meet in the welcome center (just outside the sanctuary).  Your child will sing at the beginning of the service and will then join you for the rest of worship.

Here we go...

While others enjoyed free choice time, each friend found out "How Many HEARTS Tall Are You?"

Once measured he/she found the correct number, for how many hearts tall he/she measured and wrote his/her name on our chart/graph.  The ability to compare and measure, using non-standard forms of measurement, is an early math skill!

We LOVED using our muscles to squish, smash, and pull apart flubber (or some may know it as slime) left over from yesterday's valentine party!

Reese works the ticket counter as we get ready to take a flight to Florida this morning!

Many friends decided they wanted to take the trip, so tickets were purchased...

And...that pesky walk through security...

All passengers may now board the plane...Josh checks those boarding passes...

And...pilot Josh with co-pilot Jack fly our crew to Florida, but not before everyone safely fastens his/her seatbelt!

Time for a little in-flight snack

 Each friend (that had not done valentines yet) practiced one to one correspondence placing 1 valentine in each bag!

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, so Pastor Reitz came by to show and let us "test" the ashes that will be used at the special chapel service tomorrow morning.  We could choose to try on the forehead, the hand, or say "no thank you"!

 With a new airport, we needed a name for the airport/airline!  So, of course, time for a vote! Each friend could choose between "Awesome Airlines" or "Preschool Planes"....

And..."Awesome Airlines" comes out on top!  We decided that 11 is more than 8 (and the line of stickers for Awesome Airlines is taller/bigger)!

A bit chilly, but we enjoyed large motor time outside...especially inspecting the little bit of frost/ice left over from Sunday!

And...time to PARTY!!!  Thank you to our parent volunteers, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Ehlers, and Grandma Denise, for all of their help today!

We enjoyed hearing all about Pete the Cat's valentine adventures...

With Mrs. Taylor we played a fun game of Valentine TWISTER!  It sure was tricky to twist our bodies around and not fall over!

With Mrs. Ehlers we tested our throwing skills as we played valentine heart ring toss!

With Mrs. Copper and Grandma Denise we used our small motor control and strengthened the finger, wrist, and hand muscles as we made designs and wrote on "magic" hearts!

With Mrs. Johnson we played a fun game of Valentine BINGO!  He/she got to use rolos as markers when he/she found the match on his/her game card (The ability to match is an early math skill). Our friends are very excited that a few rolos are coming home in his/her goodie bag!

Then, to wrap up our fun party, we read one more valentine book...

Jack returned the favorite book bag today! He shared with us "Mooseltoe". We loved hearing from Jack about his favorite part of the book, and seeing his drawings.  We then enjoyed hearing the story as Mrs. Mudd read it to the class.

This activity is one way to encourage the love of reading.  Also, this activity allows the children (and teacher) to be introduced to new books!  Furthermore, it helps to continue to build home and school connections!

And...we were so very excited to get large motor time on the "big kid" playground!

 

As we begin our project on airplanes, each friend (not here yesterday) took a little time to let me know what he/she already knows about airplanes!

During Jesus Time today we remembered that at any time of the day, Jesus is near, hearing or prayers and blessing us.  He never turns us away or goes away.  He always has time for us!  Whether it is lunchtime or playtime or school time or bedtime, Jesus has time for you!
