I pray you had a chance to rest and relax a bit over the long weekend!
A few reminders before we jump into our day...
Preschool is singing at church this Saturday...our class (together with Mrs. Linneman’s and Mrs. Rouland's PS classes) is singing at Zion Lutheran Church at the 5:00 pm service this Saturday, 2/24. Please join us for worship and to hear little ones sing praise to Jesus! Please arrive at 4:45 pm and meet in the welcome center (just outside the sanctuary). Your child will sing at the beginning of the service and will then join you for the rest of worship.
Box Tops Contest…It’s classroom contest time again! Turn in your box tops to your teacher for a chance to win a classroom treat! To be included in the contest, box tops must be turned in by this Wednesday, 2/21. Please write “Mrs. Mudd’s class” on the bag and turn them in to Mrs. Mudd, Mrs. Dose, or Mrs. Cooper. The winning class will be announced in March. Questions? Contact Shawnda Burnham 636.675.2277!
Grandparents’ Day...is quickly approaching! Preschool Grandparents/Special Friends day is the morning of Thursday, March 8. Be sure to plan ahead so your child can show his/her Grandparents/Special Friends what an awesome school he/she attends! More detailed information will be coming home in your child’s folder this week!
Here we go...
Our friends arrived with a lot of energy today! So, we put that energy to work ;o) While other friends were enjoying free choice in the classroom, a few friends worked with me as we completed a bit of preparation for Grandparent/Special Friend Day! I gave him/her a quick interview about his/her grandparents!
The Estimate Jar was introduced at the end of morning meeting today! Beginning next week, when checking in, each friend will write his/her name. But, he/she will also write an estimate (good guess) as to "how many" of something is in the jar. There will always be between 1 and 10, but each day will be a different number! Then, at the end of the day I will read the estimates and we will count the exact number in the jar! Today each person said aloud his/her estimate, then we counted together the number of rolos in the jar!
We were excited to head to Mrs. Smith's 2nd grade class for another buddy class activity! Today we enjoyed the book, "If I Were President" on the smart board...
We were then paired with a 2nd grader to make either an Abraham Lincoln or George Washington book mark!
Check out your kiddos bookmark when they get home today!
Here are the examples they had to work from (the pennies and quarters were already glued on)...
In honor of our day off yesterday, we read 2 books!
One taught us about a few past Presidents...
Another reminded us that any of us could be President one day, talking about all the qualities we look for in a president!
Time for small groups (centers)!
We expressed creativity, improved small motor control, and promoted writing skills as we painted the "Awesome Airlines" sign for our airport! Each friend painted over a letter that I had written in pencil and filled in circles already drawn on the paper...
We were sad to see our hearts were all messed up! We sequenced them from smallest to biggest and biggest to smallest (early math skill).
We had a chance to explore the airport. Some chose to work the check-in counter, while others chose to fly on the airplane, or be the pilot for the trip!
With Mrs. Cooper, we improved our scissor cutting skills as we turned coffee filters into snowflakes to hang around the room!
Crazy MO weather called for large motor time in the gym!!!
During Jesus Time today we learned the story of Jesus visiting Mary and Martha. Martha wanted to help Jesus. She was busy cleaning and making food. Helping is important. Mary chose to listen to Jesus, learning about God's love, and spending time with her friend Jesus. Listening is also important. Helping and hearing are both good things, but hearing God's word needs to come first because it is the MOST important!
Ella enjoyed being our photographer for the day...
Have a great night!
