We had a a fun Wednesday at preschool!

We began our morning with a special check-in..."How Many Gingerbread Cookies Tall Are You?"  Each friend was measured in gingerbread cookies (using and understanding non-standard forms of measurement is an early math skill)!

Then each friend found that same number on our graph.  Once he/she found the number, he/she practiced writing his/her name on a vertical writing surface!  EVERYONE wrote without his/her name tag today (a few needed verbal cues)!!!

We then finished up morning meeting with Wiggle Worm...he is back!!!  Today he brought with him uppercase letters on snowflakes.  If wiggle worm was picked from the bag...everybody WIGGLE, then stop!  Having to stop is tough, but it helps us learn self regulation!

If a letter is picked, that friend told everyone the letter name and the letter sound!

Today we introduced the letter "G" and number "1"!

We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big curve, little line to write a "G" and big line down to write a "1"! Then we came up with words that start with "G" and found "1's" around the room!

Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "G" we can add it to our big letter.  Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with a "G", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!

Then we practiced writing "G" and "1" with crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!

It was a cold and windy morning, so we bundled up and had the BEST time...

Lainey had a little fun as photographer!!!

Time for small groups (centers)!

With Mrs. Mudd, we completed..."J" is for Jesus patterning!

With Mrs. Fahey we made a few more ornaments for our Christmas tree!  We strung beads (some even did so in a pattern) and jingle bells on to pipe cleaners! Stringing those tiny beads while holding a pipe cleaner sure can be tricky!

Then...some time to enjoy Christmas or winter books, as we read to self!

Off to the gym to get our bodies moving and work on some coordination skills!

During Jesus time we heard the story of when God lit up the darkness for the shepherds on the night Jesus was born!  An angel appeared and lit the sky, bringing "good news of a great joy."  They found out that Jesus had been born in Bethlehem and went as fast as they could to see the new Savior.  Jesus came to be the light for each one of us.  He is the light of the world, and will always be with us, no matter what!

See you tomorrow!
