Thanks for checking out our Thursday!

We began our morning with a special check-in..."How Many Gingerbread Cookies Tall Are You?"  Each friend (not here yesterday) was measured in gingerbread cookies (using and understanding non-standard forms of measurement is an early math skill)!

Then each friend found that same number on our graph.  Once he/she found the number, he/she practiced writing his/her name on a vertical writing surface!

Check out a few of our free choice activities while others were checking in...

It was a quick morning in the classroom as we headed over to church to practice for our Advent Service this Sunday!

And then stuck around for chapel, reminding us what it means to prepare for Jesus birthday!

We then finished up morning meeting with Wiggle Worm...he is back!!!  Today he brought with him uppercase letters on snowflakes.  If wiggle worm was picked from the bag...everybody WIGGLE, then stop!  Having to stop is tough, but it helps us learn self regulation!

If a letter is picked, that friend told everyone the letter name and the letter sound!

Today we introduced the letter "G" and number "1"!

We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big curve, little line to write a "G" and big line down to write a "1"! Then we came up with words that start with "G" and found "1's" around the room!

Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "G" we can add it to our big letter.  Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with a "G", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!

Then we practiced writing "G" and "1" with crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!

Time for small groups (centers)!

With Mrs. Mudd, we completed..."J" is for Jesus patterning!

With Mrs. Lorenz we made a few more ornaments for our Christmas tree!  We strung beads (some even did so in a pattern) and jingle bells on to pipe cleaners! Stringing those tiny beads while holding a pipe cleaner sure can be tricky!

Then...some time to enjoy Christmas or winter books, as we read to self!

Off to the gym to get our bodies moving and work on some coordination skills!

That's a wrap for today...
