Tuesdays can be terrific in preschool!
Two quick reminders...
11:50 Dismissal on Friday, December 20…Our class will dismiss at 11:50 on this day to begin Christmas break. There is NO aftercare option, please make arrangements to pick up your child at 11:50. We will not be eating lunch at preschool, but we will have morning snack.
There is NO school Monday, December 23 - Friday, January 3…blessings on your Christmas Holiday! (school resumes on Monday, January 6, 2025).
Onto our day...
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in preschool!
Our friends were so excited to see that Christmas popped up in the classroom while we were on Thanksgiving break! Some friends improved small motor control as they made ornaments for our class Christmas tree!
We even got to hang our ornaments on the tree all by ourselves!
Can you guess where we hid each car???
Leihla explored our jewels, and then decided to try making a "pizza"!
The "candy construction" building set arrived for the season. We had the best time expressing creativity and improving hand-eye coordination while building with "candy"!
As another month passed us by...we got to check out another pie graph! Right away our friends noticed November had the same colors as September and October, but November had more black (cloudy) than both of those months.
To wrap up morning meeting, some of our friends took turns rolling the dice, recognizing/counting the number of dots, then finding that number on our "positional words" paper. (Quantifying, connecting numerals to their quantities and understanding positional words are early math skills)
Carter is "under" the present...
Hudson is "behind" the present...
Everley's hand is "on" the present...
Kyle is "in front of" the present...
Large motor time in the commons is the BEST! We love to get our bodies moving and improve our core strength...
Science Time!!
Scientist Mudd arrived and began making a solution with water, ammonia, bluing, and salt!
Then we stirred and stirred and stirred!!!
Scientist Mudd asked each friend (not here yesterday) what he/she thought would happen when we put a cardboard tree in the solution...
Once again, scientist Mudd tricked the class! Nothing happened, it just sat there! Today we were reminded that some times things don't happen right away, we have to be patient, wait, and keep checking our tree over the next few days!
Luckily, we had yesterday's tree to take a sneak peak today, not having to wait until tomorrow!
Look what happened as of 8:30 am this morning...
Time for small groups (centers)!
We improved scissor cutting skills as we cut Christmas wrapping paper into small pieces! We can then use these small pieces to create with as it gets a bit closer to Christmas!
We improved our writing (and reading) skills as we wrote in our journals. Our friends were excited about the new Christmas words that we added to our word wall last week!
Wow...we are learning some impressive basketball skills!!!
During Jesus Time today we thought about how Mary must have felt when suddenly an angel appeared at her house. We all agreed she was probably surprised and maybe even a little scared. Then that angel told her something even more surprising! She was going to have a baby, God's son! She knew that her baby was going to be the Savior. God's plan for saving us was finally going to happen!
