Zion has reached their 1st quarter goal for chapel donations! 60 children will be warm and dry this winter due to your generosity...
We began our day with a special check-in (for those not here yesterday)! Each child completed his/her "October My Name" for his/her portfolio. Each friend could choose whether or not he/she wanted to use his/her name tag for guidance! Some of us have become pros while others are just beginning to learn...and that's okay! While each friend wrote his/her name I took special note of :

right or left hand
copied name or wrote from memory

Legos became a zoo today with the help of these friends!
And the post office is making some $$$...
We then finished up morning meeting with Wiggle Worm...he is back!!! Today he brought with him uppercase letters on "community helper" cards. If they got the wiggle worm, the whole class got to wiggle, wiggle, wiggle. But, when I said, "Freeze!" everyone had to stop wiggling and freeze. Our friends were having fun getting to be "wiggly" in the classroom, but they didn't know they were learning self regulation! It's hard to stop and freeze when having so much fun!
If a letter is picked, that friend told everyone the letter name and the letter sound!
A little wind, cooler temps, and a jacket...yes, please!!!

Time for small groups (centers)!
With Mrs. Mudd we worked on making our signs for "Preschool Post". Each friend helped write either an "open/closed" sign or an "hour of operations" sign! They turned out GREAT!
With Mrs. Dose we worked more on letter recognition and letter formation! We used our magnet "pen" to write the letters U - Z, after telling Mrs. Dose which letter she was holding and the sound it makes! Letter identification/recognition is an early literacy skill, while proper letter formation is an early writing skill!
We got to pretend to be GIANTS and sort "boulders" (dyed chickpeas) by color. Not only did we practice our sorting skills we also improved small motor control!
We improved our balance/large motor control, and recognition/identification and sounds of letters. Each community helper on the balance beam had a letter on it. When you get to the letter, say the letter and the sounds it makes, then step over the letter without falling off the balance beam!
During Jesus Time we sang great songs reminding us of the story of baby Moses being protected by his mother and always by God. We know that God loves us all and will always protect us wherever we go!
