Happy Friday from Preschool!
Brooke shows her favorite friend how to make playdoh pumpkin faces!
We LOVED getting to bring a special stuffed animal to school! Our new friends learned about everything we do in preschool!
Natalia had a chance to show me what she knows about patterns!
We, along with our stuffed animals, very much enjoyed outside time in the cool, brisk fall air!
And...here are all our stuffed friends visiting school to help us celebrate being healthy!
We finished up morning meeting with Wiggle Worm...one last time!!! Today he brought with him upper and lower case letters. If wiggle worm was picked from the bag...everybody WIGGLE, then stop! Having to stop is tough, but it helps us learn self regulation!
If a letter is picked, that friend told everyone the letter name and the letter sound!
Scientist Mudd made an appearance today! She had us experiment with pumpkins one last time to find out, "Will the pumpkin sink or float"? Each friend made his/her observations about the little pumpkin and the big pumpkin and then made his/her prediction! (Those friends that were here yesterday had to use his/her self control to keep what did happen a secret!)
Then, we tested our predictions to find out "Did the pumpkin sink or float"? Many friends were surprised to see that both pumpkins actually float. The size and how heavy the pumpkin was didn't matter, they both floated! One friend, here all 3 days, realized that EVERY pumpkin floated...all pumpkins must float! GREAT observation!
We then learned the parts of the pumpkin...stem, fruit, skin, pulp (guts), and seeds!
For centers today we did something a little different...we had 2 stations!
We had many pumpkins left over from the trunk or treat harvest party so each friend expressed his/her creativity painting a pumpkin however he/she chose! Look for them on display on the bookshelf outside the classroom.
We had one last chance to explore pumpkin "guts". We improved small motor control and eye-hand coordination as we worked with the pumpkin "guts" and pulled out all the seeds. (Mrs. Mudd plans to bake these seeds too!)
We had a little time to show our stuffed animal friends how we move, move, move to dancing songs on the smartboard!
Then...outside for more fresh air and large motor time!
During Jesus Time today we learned about the last three of the Ten Commandments!
The Eighth Commandment tells us that God wants us to speak kindly to other people.
The Ninth Commandment tells us that God wants us to be happy with what we have and be happy for the blessings that other people have.
The Tenth Commandment tells us that God wants us to love, respect, and be kind to all people.
And...again today, we remembered that we should try to follow God's rules, but if we forget and make a poor choice He still loves us and forgives us!
