Happy Friday from Mrs. Mudd's Preschool class!

One last day to create toilet tube ornaments for our Christmas tree.  What a fun way to create while improving fine motor control!

Another friend measured "How many gingerbread cookies tall are you?"  He then found that number on the graph and wrote his name in the correct column. (Only 1 more friend to go before the final results are in!)

Time to run and have some fun in the commons with Mrs. Douglas' class!

Wiggle worm was here for one more day...and he still had snowflakes with uppercase letters on them.  If a friend picked a letter out of the bag, he/she showed the class, then said the letter name and the letter sound! (Recognizing/Identifying letters and their sounds are early literacy skills!)

 If he/she picked the wiggle worm, the class gets to wiggle, wiggle, wiggle.  But, when I say, "STOP" everyone has to FREEZE!  A super fun way to practice listening and self regulation!

 We introduced/remembered the letter "G" and number "1"!  

We remembered start your letter (and number) "at the top" then big curve around, the little line for "G".  Then, big line down for 1". Then we came up with words that start with "G".

Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "G" we can add it to our big letter.  Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with an "G", bring it in and he/she can glue it to our big letter!

Then we practiced writing "G" and "1" with our special handwriting without tears crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!

Time for small groups (centers)!

We improved small motor control as we peeled the last few pieces of paper off the straws.  Then we strengthened the finger, wrist, and hand muscles as we cut the straws and papers in to small pieces!

With me, we built snowmen!  The bottom of the snowman had an uppercase letter, the middle had a lowercase letter, and the head (with hat) had a picture on it.  Our friends job was to build the snowmen by matching the uppercase letter, lowercase letter, and then finding the picture that started with that letter.  Recognizing/Identifying letters and words that begin with that letter sound are early literacy skills.

These Christmas trees were empty.  Our friends sorted ornaments by color or design to decorate each tree.  (Sorting is an early cognitive skill)

With Miss Rebecca (our substitute aide) we worked on "roll and color gingerbreads".  Each took a turn rolling dice, counting the number of dots, then finding the gingerbread man with that numeral on it to color.  (Quantifying and connecting numerals to their quantities are early math skills)

Some time in the gym to get the wiggles out and improve large motor control!

During Jesus Time today Zippy was so excited to tell everyone about his new baby sister.  He reminded us that with God's help we can tell everyone about Jesus, just by saying to others "Jesus loves you"!  So as you wake up each new day, remember...JESUS LOVES YOU!!!
