Happy Wednesday from Mrs. Mudd's class!
Our friends were excited to find out officially "How many shamrocks tall are you?"
After being measured, each child had to find that same number on our graph and write his/her name in the correct square! The ability to measure using non-standard forms of measurement and recognizing/identifying numbers are early math skills.
So far...12 just barely has the lead!
To wrap up morning meeting today...yep...that's right...tricky mouse is back! This week he brought upper and lower case letters to hide under!!! But, can't fool us, we knew all these letters and found him every time!
Today we introduced the letter "V" and number "10"!
We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down diagonal, big line up diagonal to write a "V" and big line down to make the "1", and big curve and keep on going to make a "0"! Smoosh those together and you get "10"! Then we came up with words that start with "V" and found "10's" around the room!
Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "V" we can add it to our big letter. Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with a "V", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!
Then we practiced writing "V" and "10" with crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!
We were loving the sunshine as we played on the playground!!!
Time for small groups (centers)!
Mrs. Mudd assessed sorting skills as each friend sorted jelly beans. Most friends figured out very quickly that sorting by color was the best way to go! After sorting the jelly beans, each friend had to count how many of each color he/she had. Then, each friend colored in that number of squares for each color, creating his/her very own jelly bean graph! We did an EXCELLENT job with these early math skills!
Oh goodness...Mrs. Dose needed some help! She had shamrocks with numbers on them and needed help counting out that same number of lucky charms cereal pieces. (Identifying numerals and connecting each to a counted object is an early math skill) Success for some was working with numbers 1 - 10, while success for others was working with numbers 1 - 20.
We improved our large motor movement and ability to listen and follow directions while dancing along to Jim Gill songs!
We wrote or drew in our journals...today we could choose what we wanted to add!
And...more fun in the sun (or shade)!!!

During Jesus time we heard the story of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey, which was similar to a parade! The people were so excited to see Jesus. They thought He was there to save them from the Roman soldiers. But, He was there to save them all from their sins, just like he saves us from our sins!
