What a Wednesday in preschool!!!

Gwen improved her scissor skills as she cut wrapping paper in the sensory table...

Wesleigh constructed the world as she sees it while in the puppet theater.

Hadley and Kinley decided to take a few minutes this morning to paint a Christmas picture!

While Josh, Jack, and Ella built our tallest wall of cups yet!!! This takes a steady hand to build this tall with cups and not have it knocked over! Wait...do you see Ella? I do!

Oh...there she is!

Happy 5th Birthday Ella! Thank you for sharing your special day with us!

We then headed to Mrs. Smith's 2nd grade classroom (our buddy class) where we enjoyed watching/listening to the book "The Brave Little Christmas Tree".

Then, with a second grade buddy, we made our very own brave, little Christmas tree!  The 2nd graders cut the trees out while we got to color the tree trunks brown.  We then glued on a bright yellow star, added lights (peel and stick jewels), and stood our tree up in it's trunk (cut towel tube)!

After an action packed morning, we headed outside to get our bodies moving!

We read a book all about a silly puppy dog who thought she was a reindeer! Our friends loved this silly book...and would probably love to read it again at home!

Time for small groups (centers)!

With me, we improved our rhyming skills!  Each card had a snowflake on it, each snowflake had a picture on it!  Each friend had to find the match to his/her picture.  But, the pictures weren't the same!  The match was a picture that rhymed with his/her picture!  Rhyming is an early literacy skill.  Success for some was having me help find the rhyme.  Success for others was having a friend help find the match.  While, success for some was finding the rhyming match on his/her own!

We found a lot of candy canes!  Some tiny, some big, and some in between!  Each friends job was to sequence his/her candy canes in order from smallest to biggest, or biggest to smallest!  The ability to compare and measure is an early math skill.

With Mrs. Dose we "rolled a Christmas tree"!  Each friend was given a picture of a tree with the numbers 1 - 6.  Each number had the picture of a different colored ornament or a star next to it.  Each friend took a turn rolling the dice, stated or counted the number of dots.  He/she found that number on his/her paper, then added that color ornament/star to his/her Christmas tree! Identifying/recognizing numbers and connecting them to their quantity is an early math skill!

Since Christmas is now just 12 days away, it was perfect to have a Veggie Tales Christmas dance party!  Check out these large motor skill moves!

Oh my...I found a couple "snakes" and a few "rolly pollies" in the gym today! 

And we improved our jumping skills as he leaped over some small hurdles!

During Jesus Time today we talked about how much we all love the story of Jesus being born at Christmas.  But, there is more to the story.  We also need to remember WHY Jesus was born.  We all call Jesus "our Savior."  He saves us from our sins!  That is the most important message of all!  He loves us so much that He was willing to die on a cross to save us!
