Welcome to our Wednesday in preschool!

We were still SO EXCITED to have the tent in our block center!

Since so many of our friends voted for camping (even though pets "won"), I had said that we could maybe at least have a tent for reading or resting with our pets the last couple weeks of school!

And...here it is...we loved getting to read/rest with each other or our pets, while relaxing in the tent!

Some friends created with kinetic sand.  They can pack it, pull it, and shape it!  It oozes, it moves, and feels like it "melts" in our hands!  You can shape anything you want and use it over and over again! Great for fine motor and sensory development!

 With the excitement of the tent and sand this week, not many were drawn to the listening center...until today!  Carter enjoyed reading a book all by himself while listening for that special sound that alerts him to turn the page!

Reagan improves small motor control and expresses creativity as she creates art for a friend!

Woo Hoo!!! We finally made it outside this week!  We sure missed getting to improve large motor control while playing on the playground with friends!

 

Tricky Mouse is making one last appearance before the end of the school year!  He brought uppercase letter flowers and lowercase letter bees!  Not only did we practice letter identification, we also practiced the sound each letter makes before finding where tricky mouse was hiding!  He tried to trick us, but we found him every time!

We started off small groups (centers) listening to audio of the book, "Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons" while following along in the paperback book!  If you're not familiar with this book, check it out!  It's a super fun way to practice literacy skills along with math skills and singing!

Each friend then had the chance to give Pete any number of buttons he/she chose (up to 20)!  First he/she wrote a number next to Pete (improving writing skills and number recognition), then had to draw that same number of buttons on Pete's shirt (connecting numerals to their quantities).  Finally, each friend could color the rest of Pete however he/she desired!

With Mrs. Dose, Pete was visiting their center with a number (from 0 - 10).  As each friend was given a number, he/she had to tell Mrs. Dose the number received.  Then, they got to place that number of real buttons on Pete's shirt!

 We had a chance to "read to self" or "read to a pet" in the tent.  We did a little relaxing and practiced "reading" on our own.  No, they didn't actually read the words, but practiced using a book correctly (holding correctly, turning pages from left to right, starting at the beginning of the book, and using pictures as clues to tell the story).

And...what an awesome day it turned out to be...more outside time on the big playground!

During Jesus Time today Rhoda (puppet) visited to tell us all about the amazing story of Peter being freed from jail.  Many prayed for him and God chose to answer these prayers!  She reminded us that God always listens to our prayers.  He will answer our prayers in the right way and at the right time!
