Tuesdays are terrific in preschool!
A few reminders...
NO hot lunch available the last week of school (5/23 - 5/25). Your child will need to bring a lunch from home with a drink on Monday, 5/23 - Wednesday, 5/25).
Picnic at the Park…Tuesday, May 24 we will have a Preschool Picnic in the Park evening from 5:00 - 7:00 at Laurel Park. If you would like to bring a picnic dinner, Mrs. Stanglein has reserved the “upper” picnic pavilion. Please note that we will not be providing any food. Please also note that you will need to stay with your child(ren) for the time that they are in attendance. It will be a fun night!
Last day of preschool…Wednesday, 5/25. It’s hard to believe but the end of the school year is drawing near. (Thursday, 5/26 from 8 am - 10 am is for grades 1 - 8 only).
On to our day...
We still enjoy listening to a good book on CD!
We were excited to paint on a new "canvas" today...gigantic coffee filters!
Kinetic sand has arrived to finish out the year and get us ready for summer! Our friends can pack it, pull it, and shape it! It oozes, it moves, and feels like it "melts" in our hands! You can shape anything you want and use it over and over again! Great for fine motor and sensory development!
These 3 ladies worked as a team, with steady hands, to use every stacking cup to build this tower!
While others enjoyed free choice time, those not here yesterday started his/her morning with a fun and different check in! Each friend was asked if his/her family had a pet. If so, he/she drew a picture of his/her pet. If not, he/she drew a picture of a favorite stuffed animal!
Once the pictures were drawn, he/she found the correct row on the "Our Pets" graph and added his/her picture.
And...dogs are the family favorite in our classroom! Fish and Birds came in with the same of 1 each and also the least! The ability to understand more, less, and the same is an early math skill.
We decided on some hula hoop action for large motor time in the commons!
Wiggle worm was here one last time before the end of the school year!!! If a friend picked a number on a shape, that friend said the shape, the color, and the number aloud. Then I gave the class an activity to complete that number of times...

If a wiggle worm was picked...
WIGGLE, WIGGLE, WIGGLE...and FREEZE! A great way to practice self regulation, having to stop and freeze when having so much fun wiggling!
We had a special Jesus Time today! Mrs. Reimenschneider's 6th grade class wanted a way to spread the Good News! So, they created 6 different puppet plays that taught us all about God's love for us. They showed us many ways to make good choices and to share God's love with others!
Then it was the time many of us had been talking about and waiting for ALL morning! Our pet expert Miss Carla (and her helper Miss Peggy) had arrived!
They brought with them, Clyde, a Burnese Mountain Dog! He was bigger than some of our friends!
We had a chance to be the veterinarian. Clyde was so friendly that we got to listen to his heart and practice putting bandages on him, just like they do at the pet hospital!
While some friends were fixing up Clyde, others got to see what was hiding in the other 3 crates!

We loved getting to feed him lettuce and pet his soft fur!
A rooster (yet to be named) that is about 2 months old! We realized that the chicks from Miss Kirby's class probably look a lot like this chicken now!
Finally...the next pet was not soft and furry, she was soft and smooth...
Lillith is a ball python...look how brave we were to pet the snake!!! We then found out that snakes like to eat mice....eeewwww!!!
After a morning of great listening, we headed off to the gym to play a little "Mr. Fox" (and then some free choice time)!
