We had a great Friday to wrap up Week of the Young Child!!!

Check out all of our favorite storybook characters and his/her favorite books!

We then had the best time sharing our favorite books with our friends...

Or, reading them to ourselves!

One last friend found out "How Many INCHES Tall Are You?"

Once measured she found the correct number, for how many inches tall she measured and wrote her name on our chart/graph.  The ability to compare and measure, using non-standard forms of measurement, is an early math skill!

Mrs. Mudd saved our graph from the beginning of the year (August 2015) so we could see if we had grown!  We were surprised to find out that a couple of us had grown 1 inch, 2 of us had grown 3 inches, and the rest of us had grown 2 inches!!!

Now that our ladybugs are all grown up...it was time to set them free!!!

And...of course let ourselves run free on the playground!

We then had a special surprise....a trip to "storybook land"!  Zion's 5th graders picked out their favorite children's books, dressed the part, and read to us from "storybook land"!  As we were leaving many of our friends said that it was GREAT!!!

A familiar friend, Elmo, visited on our smartboard one last time today.  He taught us everything he and his friends know about cats.  How to care for them, what they eat, and they need exercise just like us (but they really like to sleep almost 16 hours a day)!

As we celebrate the week of the young child with all of the preschool classes, our schedule is a little silly!  So, we will not have our usual small groups this week.  Instead we will have a larger group activity in the classroom!

We improved our small motor control and ability to follow directions as we drew our very own butterflies.   Mrs. Mudd drew a butterfly in multiple steps.  Each friend was given time to draw each step until he/she completed his/her own butterfly.

Then...we realized that most butterflies aren't all white.  So each friend was able to express his/her creativity making his/her butterfly full of color!

We ventured out one more time to get the wiggles out before lunch...

During Jesus Time today we remembered the story of Jesus ascending into heaven.  Zippy reminded us that Jesus loves us, forgives us, and will always be near us and take care of us!
