We always have fun on Wednesdays in preschool!
We had a special check-in today..."November My Name"! While each friend wrote his/her name I took note of pencil grip, copying name or writing name from memory, letter knowledge, etc. Our friends are getting better and better each month!!!
We then finished up morning meeting with Wiggle Worm...he is back!!! Today he brought with him uppercase letters on community helper pictures. If wiggle worm was picked from the bag...everybody WIGGLE, then stop! Having to stop is tough, but it helps us learn self regulation!
If a letter was picked, that friend told everyone the letter name and the letter sound!
The majority of our class headed down to get a "picture" of our eyes! Please check folders for your child's results...
Today we introduced the letters "H" and "T"!
We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down, big line down, little line across for the "H" and big line down, little line across the top for the "T"! Then we came up with words that start with "H" and "T"!
Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "H" or "T" we can add it to our big letter. Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with an "H" or "T", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!
Then we practiced writing "H" and "T" with crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!
Woo Hoo...the rain finally stopped and the ground was dry enough to enjoy outside time on the preschool playground!
Time for small groups (centers)!
With Mrs. Fahey, we began creating a "not-so-scary" spider. We improved our small motor control as we strung froot loops onto pipe cleaner "spiders"! (Many of our friends even chose to add the froot loops in a pattern!)
We strengthened our love for books as we read to self!
With Mrs. Mudd we worked on our writing, interviewing, and math skills as we surveyed some teachers/assistants. We asked the question "Have you ever ridden in a firetruck or ambulance?" We then kept track of "yes" or "no" using tally marks...
Another round of outside time on this cloudy, cool day!
During Jesus Time today we learned the story of Moses crossing the Red Sea, with God's protection and help, His people were able to be free from the mean King Pharoah in Egypt!
