We had a fun Wednesday in preschool!

Avery spent last evening with mat man, and had the best time dressing him up, meet...

"Avery Elizabeth"!

After seeing the apples hanging on the door since last week, our friends (not here yesterday) were excited to measure his/herself in apples this morning!  Just look at all the wonderful smiles!!! Using non-standard forms of measurement is an early math skill!

After each friend was measured, he/she found that same number on the graph and wrote his/her name in the correct square!  Many of our friends chose to write his/her name without my help this time! Not only did we practice writing our names, we also worked on identifying/recognizing numbers!

To wrap up morning meeting we took the first step in what we will be building in our dramatic play area.  We used stickers to vote what we should name our bakery!  We were so surprised how close it was...but "Mudd's Munchies" comes away with the win!

Today we sang a song, teaching us that we always start our letters at the top, not the bottom or middle, but the TOP!  We then practiced forming the letters H - M with our "magic" fingers on the carpet!

We quickly got outside just in case it started to rain...but it never did!!!

Time for small groups (centers)!

With Mrs. Mudd we practiced our scissor skills!  Each friend cut a 3x5 card however he/she chose.  When finished cutting he/she glued what he/she cut on to a paper for his/her portfolio! While each friend was cutting I observed the following:

How he/she cut the paper
Can he/she grasp the scissors independently
Holding the scissors with thumbs up or down
Can he/she open/close independently

A question came up about where cookies, cupcakes (and such) come from.  We decided that sometimes these yummy foods comes from a bakery.  So...we built a bakery or two out of blocks!

We were super excited to explore the beans in the sensory table...we have been practicing our patience and having to wait since Monday!

With Mrs. Fahey, we painted our favorite foods using our watercolor paints. Mrs. Fahey took dictation as each friend told her what he/she painted!

Centers took a bit longer than anticipated, so we danced along to the smart board to get our wiggles out before lunch...

During Jesus Time today we learned that all people, even grown ups, make poor choices and sin. But, we also remembered that God sent His son Jesus to die on the cross to save us from those poor choices. We are forgiven!

Natalia had some fun as photographer today...

Until next time...
