We had a terrific Tuesday in preschool!
One quick reminder...
There is NO school on Wednesday, 10/11 - Friday, 10/13 for a teacher’s conference.
Here we go...
Checkout Edie's Mat Man from home...Rella Edie!!
After seeing the apples hanging on the door since last week, our friends were excited to measure his/herself in apples this morning! Just look at all the wonderful smiles!!! Using non-standard forms of measurement is an early math skill!
After each friend was measured, he/she found that same number on the graph and wrote his/her name in the correct square! Some of our friends chose to write his/her name without my help this time! Not only did we practice writing our names, we also worked on identifying/recognizing numbers!
Here's where we are so far..they wrote in gray and it's a bit hard to read in a picture (oops)
BB began work on her crown so it will be ready for her birthday celebration next week!
To wrap up morning meeting we took the first step in what we will be building in our dramatic play area. We used stickers to vote what we should name our bakery! Final results will be available tomorrow!!!
We dove into a great book, "Those Darn Squirrels". We were excited to read the book to find out what those squirrels were up to! We quickly learned they were taking and eating all of the bird food from the bird feeder. How could those squirrels be stopped...maybe a squirrel proof bird feeder?!?!?
After reading the book, I laid out many different materials that we will use (along with boxes and paper tubes) to create our very own squirrel proof feeders. We explored them a bit and thought of some ways we could use these items to build. Stay tuned in the next weeks to see what we create!
Wow...another perfect morning...to get our bodies moving outside!
Time for small groups (centers...and I missed pics for one rotation)!
We are starting a project all about food! To begin, we needed to find out what we already know about food. Each child was given a chance to tell me what he/she knows about food. As we near the end of the project, I will ask the same question to find out what we learned!
It was time to get SALTY, writing the letters H - M in salt!!! Our friends had the best time and probably didn't even realize they were learning the correct way to form letters! (All while using something we put on our food to make it a little more yummy)
We read to self today! Even though we may not be reading the words, we are learning the correct way to use a book and learning to use pictures as clues!
We matched uppercase and lowercase letters using our milk and cookies! Recognizing and Identifying upper and lowercase letters is an early literacy skill.
We headed to the parking lot playground before lunch to move, move, move!
During Jesus time today we remembered that Adam and Eve were the first to fall into sin. They believed that sneaky snake, Satan, and ate from the one tree that God told them was off limits. They tried to hide from God, they knew they made a mistake, and blamed others. But, we remembered that we all sin (make poor choices). We know that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins.
Have a great night...
