Thanks for stopping by our Wednesday!!!

Two reminders first...

Preschool is singing at church...our class (together with Mrs. Horn’s PS class) is singing at Zion Lutheran Church at the 5:00 pm service this Saturday, May 6 Please join us for worship and to hear little ones sing praise to Jesus!  Please arrive at 4:45 pm and meet in the welcome center (just outside the sanctuary).  Your child will sing at the beginning of the service and will then join you for the rest of worship.

The last day of school for preschool is Thursday, May 25.

On to our day...

Now that it is May...each friend began his/her day with a special check-in!  Each child completed his/her "May My Name" for his/her portfolio without using their name tag. While each friend wrote his/her name I took special note of :

pencil grip
right or left hand

We noticed that our calendar and weather tally had changed to May, and that our April pie graph was filled in!  This month definitely had the most sunny days, and all the same colors (types of weather) as February and March! The ability to compare more, less, and the same is an early math skill.

We wrapped up morning meeting with a super fun game that improved our recalling skills!  One friend hid in the bathroom while another friend was covered up with a blanket.  The friend that was in the bathroom had to try and figure out who was missing.  This is tough to do with this number of friends, but we did GREAT!  And...what was possibly even harder? The friends sitting around the carpet had to use all the self regulation they had to not tell who was hiding under the blanket!

We will have chrysalis for most of the week, if not all of it!

But, we took a peek ahead to see what happens from caterpillar to adult butterfly in a short time lapse video!

Finally, we took a few minutes to draw the adult butterfly in our butterfly journals!

Outside time was PERFECT!!!

Time for small groups (centers)!

We drew our fourth quarter self portraits!  We remembered...legs and feet too!  Not only are are we improving writing/drawing skills, we are also learning self awareness!

We improved working with others, spatial awareness, and number identification to 20 as we completed another Dr. Seuss puzzle!

Today (and tomorrow) we will continue to explore/create in kinetic sand with our hands only.  Later on, we might add different "beach" toys to see what else we can build when using molds!

With summer just around the corner we got into the vacation bible school spirit! We had a VBS dance party!

Off to the playground to get our late morning wiggles out!

During Jesus Time today we began learning the story of Pentecost.  Zippy visited afraid to go to his basement to get his favorite toy.  We suggested that he should ask someone to go with him.  We then talked about Jesus disciples and how they were scared to share the Good News with all people.  Then, Jesus sent a special helper, The Holy Spirit, as tongues of fire above each disciples head.  Even though we don't have fire over our heads, we know that the Holy Spirit is our helper.  He never leaves us and is there to help us!

Have a wonderful night!
