Happy Wednesday from Mrs. Mudd's class!
While others were enjoying free choice time...each friend found out "How Many INCHES Tall Are You?" We were amazed that all of us had grown, as little as one inch all the way to 2.5 inches, since last August!
Once measured he/she found the correct number, for how many inches tall he/she measured, and wrote his/her name on our chart/graph. The ability to compare and measure, using standard forms of measurement, is an early math skill!
To wrap up morning meeting, wiggle worm visited the classroom for the last time this school year! Today wiggle worm brought colored shapes with numbers on them. If a friend grabbed a shape, he/she gave the color, the name of the shape, and the number on the shape!
Then Mrs. Mudd gave them an activity to complete that number of times...time for 12 knee bends!
If he/she grabbed a wiggle worm...
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle and FREEZE!!! It's hard to use that self regulation to stop when we are having so much fun wiggling!
We headed to church for a chapel service led by Mrs. Helmkamp!
Today we introduced the letter "Z"!
We remembered start your letter "at the top" then little line across, big line down diagonal, little line across to write a "Z"! Then we came up with words that start with "Z"!
Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "Z" we can add it to our big letter. Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with a "Z", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!
Then we practiced writing "Z" with crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!
After sitting so still and being such good listeners...we enjoyed an outside time full of sunshine!
But...first...it was time to release our butterflies!!!
When I turned around everyone was standing with an arm and finger out, ready to catch a butterfly ;o)
We had a special day for some of our friends going to Kindergarten next year! We got the chance to "Tiptoe into Kindergarten" to check out what it's all about. Here we are tiptoeing down to Mrs. Reed's classroom!
While we were there quietly watching, we drew pictures of what we saw in Kindergarten. Each "almost" Kindergartner has been working on a book about what they think about Kindergarten and what they will miss about preschool. With our visit to the classroom today, each book is complete!
While our "almost" Kindergarteners were on their special adventure, our other friends enjoyed extra outside time today!!!
Time to soak up some more sunshine on the parking lot playground!
