What a wonderful Wednesday in preschool!
Many of our friends were blessed to start the day having donuts with dad (or grandpa)! A few even had the chance to share chapel with us, after having some yummy donuts! (I think I got a picture of everyone! My apologies if you were here and I missed you).
We then headed off to our special "big kid" chapel...
Our service today was led by Pastor Rouland. His message began with a few funny quotes for being a good dad. He followed with some more serious quotes. He then shared with us, Psalm 103:13. He reminded us what a blessing it is to be a father that gives our children a glimpse of what it looks like to have a loving Heavenly Father!
We had free choice when we returned. While others enjoyed free choice time, each friend found out if he/she was taller, shorter, or the same height as Fluffy the snowman.
Once measured he/she found the correct word, for how they measured against Fluffy and wrote his/her name on our chart/graph. The ability to compare and measure, using non-standard forms of measurement, is an early math skill!
We decided that so far, "taller" has the most with 7 and "the same" has the least with 2.
It's been awhile, but Scientist Mudd came to visit today! Today she brought a glass jar filled with tap water and some skittles.
She asked the question, "What will happen when skittles are dropped in water?" Then each child made his/her prediction...
A few friends helped drop each skittle into the water...
First we discovered that skittles sink (some predicted this, others thought they would float)!
Second, just after a few minutes, we noticed the color was "disappearing" from the skittles and was in the water like a rainbow!
Lastly, when centers were complete, we checked again...and the skittles had completely dissolved!
Time for small groups (centers)!
With Mrs. Mudd we began work on our special art project for National Lutheran Schools week that is coming soon. Each friend improved small motor control as he/she peeled and placed 15 small foil star stickers to his/her paper. Then, each friend painted his her whole paper with watercolor paint. Finally we sprinkled salt on the top. After the paintings dry each friend will shake off the salt and remove his/her stickers to reveal a "Starry Night" masterpiece!
With Mrs. Dose, we improved recognizing/identifying upper and lowercase letters. Each snowflake had an uppercase letter. Each friend had to find the lowercase match on a penguin!
After our hard work making "snow" the last 2 days, we got to explore and play in the snow...and we didn't even have to bundle up!
We improved our balance while also practicing letter identification and letter sounds! As, each friend stepped over a letter, he/she said the letter name and gave the letter sound.
After a busy, jammed packed morning...we headed to the gym to run, run, run!!!
