We had a great day in preschool!

While others enjoyed free choice time, each friend (that was not here yesterday) found out if he/she was taller, shorter, or the same height as Fluffy the snowman.

Once measured he/she found the correct word, for how they measured against Fluffy and wrote his/her name on our chart/graph.  The ability to compare and measure, using non-standard forms of measurement, is an early math skill!

We decided that so far, "taller" and "shorter" have the same (or equal) with 8 each and "the same" has the least with 3.

Mrs. Mudd finally remembered to cut out a name tag for Fluffy!  So, today a few friends finished it up by writing "Fluffy the Snowman"!

Woo Hoo...dry ground and warmer temps allowed for outside play for large motor time! 

We still found a little snow/ice left in some shaded parts of the playground!  Here's a piece of mulch frozen in snow/ice.

Scientist Mudd came to visit again today!  She brought a glass jar filled with tap water and some skittles.

She asked the question, "What will happen when skittles are dropped in water?" Then each child made his/her prediction (boo...I forgot a picture).  

A few friends helped drop each skittle into the water...

First we discovered that skittles sink (some predicted this, others thought they would float)!

Second, just after a few minutes, we noticed the color was "disappearing" from the skittles and was in the water like a rainbow!

Lastly, when centers were complete, we checked again...and the skittles had completely dissolved!

Time for small groups (centers)!

With Mrs. Mudd we began (or finished) work on our special art project for National Lutheran Schools week that is coming soon.  Each friend improved small motor control as he/she peeled and placed 15 small foil star stickers to his/her paper.  Then, each friend painted his her whole paper with watercolor paint.  Finally we sprinkled salt on the top.  For some, his/her paintings were dry today, so those friends wiped off the extra salt and removed his/her stickers to reveal a "Starry Night" masterpiece!

With Mrs. Dose, we improved recognizing/identifying upper and lowercase letters.  Each snowflake had an uppercase letter.  Each friend had to find the lowercase match on a penguin!

After our hard work making "snow" on Monday and Tuesday, we got to explore and play in the snow...and we didn't even have to bundle up!

We improved our balance while also practicing letter identification and letter sounds!  As, each friend stepped over a letter, he/she said the letter name and gave the letter sound.

 And we enjoyed this gorgeous weather one more time, getting the wiggles out on the "big kid" playground!

During Jesus Time today we learned that Jesus has the power to save people from death, keeping them alive.  But, sometimes he saves them a different way, granting them eternal life in heaven with Him.  We may be sad, missing them here on earth.  But they are happy in heaven with no pain and sadness!
