Love and Logic Parenting class...Amy Bernhardt will be teaching a Love and Logic Parenting class on Sunday mornings at 9:30. The class will run 8 weeks beginning on Sunday, January 11, 2015. The class will meet in the Discipleship room in the lower level of Zion Lutheran church.
Donuts for Dads is set for Wednesday morning, January 14th. Dads meet in the church basement between 7 and 7:45 AM to enjoy a donut and some coffee or juice with your child(ren). Everyone is invited to stay for chapel if you can. What a great time to spend time with the kids before they go off to school!
Zion’s Open House…is Sunday, January 25th from 1 - 3 pm. Invite your friends, neighbors, or co-workers to the Zion Open House! A post card will be sent home for you to use as an invitation. Word of mouth is the best marketing Zion can do, and you all do a great job of spreading your excitement of a great Christian Education.
More fun was had with playdoh this morning!!! Our friends think they are just having fun, but they don't know that they are recognizing and identifying letters while strengthening the finger, wrist, and hand muscles too!

Korrinne and Harper join in on building the castle too!!! With 4 friends working together, it takes good communication when working on a project. What a great opportunity to learn social skills that will last a lifetime!
Aiden noticed our "Funny Theater" was OPEN for business!!! He expressed his creativity as the frog performed a song and dance for me!
Brady expresses his creativity as he makes a LEGO man, while Will expresses his creativity as he makes LEGO ducks!!! Awesome way to improve hand-eye coordination!
During morning meeting, our friends that were not here yesterday, noticed that the month had changed to January and that we had a new pie graph to show our weather from December! We decided that we had the most cloudy days, and that rainy and windy tied for the least. Understanding more, less, and the same is an early math skill.
Morning meeting wrapped up with a favorite friend again today...Tricky Mouse! This week he brought shapes and numbers! When each friend guessed where Tricky Mouse was hiding they had to say the number and the shape. Success for some was knowing the number and the shape, success for others was knowing the shape and having friends help out with the number!
Mrs. Kuhlmann, Early Childhood Director, led chapel for us this morning. She had a riddle for us to figure out what Bible story she was going to share with us today! The clues: a present, a star, and a picture of 3 men. You probably guessed correctly...we heard the story from the Bible of the 3 wiseman traveling to see baby Jesus after seeing the star in the sky. When they arrived, they gave Him 3 presents! They followed the star to find Jesus. When we want to find Jesus, we search the Bible!
Jada did a great job as messenger, taking our offering to the altar!
We went on a "Letter Hunt" all around the school today! When we saw different letters each child could choose which letters to write on his/her paper. Our friends are learning that letters and words are all around us, everywhere we go. Those words tell us something, they have meaning. An added bonus, we had a chance to practice forming letters as we wrote what we discovered!

With me we worked on a "kind of" secret project for National Lutheran Schools Week. Today we worked on step 1 of 2! Be looking for the finished product to be displayed in Zion's church welcome center on 1/24 - 1/25!
After seeing the forecast for this week, how could we not have a dance party to...FROZEN songs?!?! Perfect for improving large motor control and getting the wiggles out!
We improved small motor control and hand-eye coordination as we weaved string in and out of lacing cards.
Oh no...the buttons were missing from our snowmen! With Mrs. Dose, a friend rolled the dice and counted the dots. Then, everyone added that number of buttons to the snowman. For some we left the buttons on the snowman and had to decide on the next roll if we needed to add or remove buttons to match the next number that was rolled!
