We had a great Wednesday in preschool!
We've been having the best time improving our small motor control, hand-eye coordination, and creativity as we build with REAL legos!!! And...we did a great job taking good care of them, doing our best to keep all the pieces on the table!
"Hippos in a Hut" visited at the end of morning meeting today! We started with 5 hippos...
Some got a little sleepy and decided to take a nap in their hut! Our job was to figure out how many hippos were sleeping by counting how many hippos stayed out to play. How many are in the hut if 4 are left outside to play??? This is a tough concept to grasp, but we recalled what we had learned when we did this with dinosaurs, so we did a good job today. Tomorrow we will start with seven!
We were great listeners as we celebrated chapel in the church sanctuary today...
Today we introduced the letter "Y"!
We remembered start your letter "at the top" then little line down diagonal, big line down diagonal to write a "Y"! Then we came up with words that start with "Y"!
Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "Y" we can add it to our big letter. Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with a "Y", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!
Cool and cloudy, but that didn't stop us from enjoying large motor time outside...
Time for small groups (centers)!
First I read the book "The Very Impatient Caterpillar"...
Then, we followed step by step instructions on how to draw a butterfly.
Each friend improved hand-eye coordination and social skills as he/she could choose to create on his/her own, with a friend, or with a group using magnatiles!
Kinetic sand is still a HIT! We LOVED getting to smash, squish, and build with this sand that forms, but also "melts" in your hands!
We headed to the gym to get out our Wednesday wiggles!
See you tomorrow!
