Thanks for checking out our Wednesday in preschool!
While others were enjoying free choice time...each friend (not here yesterday) found out "How Many INCHES Tall Are You?"
Once measured he/she found the correct number, for how many inches tall he/she measured and wrote his/her name on our chart/graph. The ability to compare and measure, using standard forms of measurement, is an early math skill!
We realized that our friends come in all different sizes!
And...that most of us have grown 2 - 3 inches since last August!
We were SOOOO excited to see ramps and balls out this morning...we couldn't get enough!!!
While so many were busy with ramps, our lego loving friends had the table almost all to themselves!
We wrapped up morning meeting with a super fun game that improved our recalling skills! One friend hid in the bathroom while another friend was covered up with a blanket. The friend that was in the bathroom had to try and figure out who was missing. This is tough to do with this number of friends, but we did GREAT! And...what was possibly even harder? The friends sitting around the carpet had to use all the self regulation they had to not tell who was hiding under the blanket!
Today we introduced the letter "Z"!
We remembered start your letter "at the top" then little line across, big line down diagonal, little line across to write a "Z"! Then we came up with words that start with "Z"!
Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "Z" we can add it to our big letter. Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with a "Z", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!
Then we practiced writing "Z" with crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!
Off to enjoy a sunny day on the preschool playground...
Six of our soon to be kindergarteners were off to "Tiptoe into Kindergarten" (our 5 other future kindergarteners will take this fun trip on Thursday)!
We were very sneaky as we tiptoed into Mrs. Reed's Kindergarten classroom to get a sneak peak at what Kindergarten is all about! Each friend drew a picture of what he/she saw in the classroom. We then tiptoed back out as quietly as we tiptoed in!
Each friend then drew a picture of what he/she will like most about Kindergarten. Finally, I took dictation again as he/she told me all about what he/she drew!
The 6 friends that tiptoed today will be bringing his/her book home today! They are excited to show you what they created.
While some friends were tiptoeing into K...everyone else enjoyed a "whatever you want Wednesday" outside!!!
During Jesus time today we learned more about Philip who helped the Ethiopian man understand the Bible and learn all about Jesus. We can help others learn all about Jesus too!
Enjoy your night...
